Default Just an idea about faeries.....

Everyone is linking the line, "There are Thirteen" with the lines under it in the poem, discussing the jewels, What about thinking it goes with the lines above it in the peom. Like this:

WITH NAME IN HAND THE FA(E)RIES KNOW
AND THEY WILL SHOW YOU WHERE TO GO
    there are thirteen

In other words, there are 13 faeries that have the names in hand. If you go back through the book, there are only 13 faeries pointing at things. Just a thought

Are you including the one on P66 that doesn't have wings? I'm not sure if that is Ana, but I think it's safe to say it's *not* a fairy.

Perhaps it's an elf on page 66!

That was my second thought, if it's not Ana or some other Half-ling. Still, it's *not* a fairy!

    Default Wingd

If you look at Ye Nomenclature of Faeries you will see that not all things classified as faeires have wings. Furthermore I believe that at one point faeires are called Ana's half-cousins...

I was trying to figure out how she would have fairy half cousins. She had "a human father and an elf mother." Seems to me her cousins would either be elves or humans. To have half cousins who were fairies.....
    Gee< I'm confused.

    Can anyone figure this out?

I think it's just assuming that fairies and elves are related, both being magical creatures.

Gapguy...I think the fairy that you think doesn't have wings, does. There are hidden under his coat (they look like the tips of Pook's wings). Unless you are seeing/reading something else?

--- cabunk I think i see what you mean. I wasn't sure if that was wings or part of the faerie's clothes.

If we look at the tokens there are 12 forest creatures and 1 Pook.

There are tweleve winged pointing faeries one wingless pointing faerie...

    Could these be related?

(*** Interesting sidenote: I caught myself misspelling Twelve above and left it for kicks... Has this happened to anyone else? I work at a bank so I should really know how to spell numbers...)
If you can't be a good example, be a terrible warning.

In the text Ana's hands are stretched out wide by the Darklings so they can haul her off to the grotto. On the snail puzzle page 66 her 'pose' is in the shape of a T, and her arms are poking thru two O's, so this is GROTTO, I s'pose, or, as the French might say, JePose.
