Default The Professors Journal - New Game

The basic story of The Professors Journal starts with a girl called Rachel asking for help in finding her father, Professor Richlieu, who has now gone missing under suspicious circumstances. He was researching a secret surrounding King John's lost treasure when he went missing and Rachel thinks this could be the key to finding him. It is your job to find him, solve the puzzles and solve the mystery of the lost treasure.

There is a crime scene report, a letter from her father and loads of free puzzles you can download once you register, and you get all kinds of historical and present day information to boot.

If you then choose to subscribe (for £24.99) you get posted a 200 page journal with loads of puzzles inside, a 5 page manuscript (that comes later) and other stuff besides. The first person to solve the whole mystery wins £10,000.

Here is the web address: The Professor's Journal

This is a genuine game with a genuine prize. Don't miss out!

    thanks for the info greeneye.

so many Richlieu peeps in history and ofc referenced in many recent culture media (like movies for instance). didn't gabi have a pic of one of the Richlieu men in one of her tweleve contests?

one more thing to get involved in I guess.

Greeneye, are you involved with the sponsors of this hunt?

I like the format of the material available for free on the website. It has a high production quality compared to many in the genre. I don't see anything yet causing me to raise any red flags.

Do you know how the prize is funded?

    Hi all,

In answer to your questions. They used to send out weekly puzzles through a site called www.davndrdicode.com, it was free to join and I had great fun playing them for a while and got into conversations with the guys who ran it.

They launched this game a week or two ago and asked me and a few others that if we liked the game, would we promote it with people we thought would like it. This site seemed like exactly the kind of place that would!

In terms of funding well I imagine it is wrapped up in the fee for subscribing, and probably some if their own money too I don't know. The reason there is a fee is because you get a journal and other items posted to you so it has obviously cost them something to produce. (I got a free copy of the journal as a previous winner of one of their games and it is really good quality, a great souveneir if nothing else)

Anyway all I can say is I do know the guys who are running the game, (via email and playing previous games) and they are totally genuine.

If you go to the Unfiction.com forums someone has posted about it there too. It may give you more info. if you are interested. Here is the link: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/v...ic.php?t=25613

Why does this make you laugh? People on this forum go off half cocked over any new treasure hunt that comes down the pike. The odd are (historically) that most are scams or otherwise not worthwhile the time put in.

Just look at the DAR forums. Those idiots are still expecting prizes if they manage to solve dead hunts.

Do you think this is a scam? That is a real shame, because it is the genuine article. These guys worked for 2 years putting this game together. The reason it took so long is because they both have full time jobs and essentially spent 1 evening a week working on it. I believe that could be called a labour of love. The free weekly puzzles were just something to do while the big game was being made.

Anyway, there is loads you can look at and puzzles to play without paying anything. Why don't you give it a chance before assuming it is a scam.

I did not say this hunt was a scam. I believe my responses below could be considered tacit approval of your hunt.

And speaking of 'your hunt', I would still like to know what connection you have with the sponsors. Your first post was an advertisement. Your second post was public relations support of this hunt. Your third post was an emotional reply against my sceptical position.

What is your angle in this, buddy?

    greeneye.

Rusty just seems to be dipping his toe into a new published game/puzzle/hunt. At least that's my opinion.

Having seen so many games/puzzles/hunts announced here at tweleve ~ the bad and the good ones that has graced our forum it's far better to be cautious and ask questions then to test the water with both feet at once.

It looks to me like Rusty is being very nice and inquisitive about all aspects of the game. I didn't see where he called it a scam yet. When he does - or if any of us think it is - you will surely now it.

Welcome to tweleve and enjoy all our personalities. And keep us up to date with any info you may have on this one.

You are right, Rusty was being nice and inquisitive. I'm sorry Rusty.

My angle is I want to give others the opportunity to enjoy the game. They asked me, if I liked what I saw, to post it where I thought people might want to play. This seems like one of those places.

I guess my emotional reponse was because I have got to know these guys a bit and so feel that connection with them we so often feel with people we get to know and therefore want to see them succeed (and I'm a girl so therefore liable to give emotional responses )

I recognise as well that you are totally entitled, and correct to be sceptical with all the rubbish that is out there.

I hope you enjoy it and I'll shut up now before I dig myself a big hole and jump in!
