Thumbs up FRench guy in C2, 15

Hello all. I'm a french guy fan of puzzles who has started to work on the Golden Eagle. Good opportunity to work my english having fun.
This hunt is anonced as a worldwide hunt, so I assume everything can be solved by someone whose mother tongue is not English.
I have solved 70% of all the questions that effectivly was pure cipher or general knowlegde.
I have a doubt about this question 15 in chapter 2.
Could be based on sounds of letters that look like words. This kind of thing is very diffucult so solve for a foreigner.
Could someone confirm ? (or not).
    Thanks in advance

    Bon jour Red! Welcome.

I would suggest that you get a copy of the companion book or at least Google Cipher Wiki to see all of the different kinds of ciphers that could be involved in this hunt. On this particular question, what one thing do you notice that is odd or unusual with the normal writing of a sentence?

Start from there and with the info on ciphers, you should be able to get it.

Also check out Rumkin.com for some online cipher solvers which also give a good explanation of many of these.

    Thanks for your answer.
I have noticed that some uppercases are part of the sentence and probably request to focus on them.
I'm familiar with the most common ciphers (substitution, caesar atbash, playfair, vigener,...). This one I don't find; It's only the beginning of the quest and the first ciphers are very simple and this one is probably also not very complex. I'm the first post of this chapter meaning that everybody except me has found
That's why I wondered if it could contain something very easy, that is not so simple for a non english born guy.
I keep continue to check. Thanks for the references.

    Welcome Red!

Hopefully this will make you feel a little better...

When the treasure hunt first started, each chapter did not have a specific thread; there was just one thread for everything (Quest for the Golden Eagle).

The question you are having trouble with was discussed there by several people needing help (myself included!). You are not unique in needing help on this one!

By the time each chapter got an independent thread, most people had already completed the early chapters, hence the lack of posting for those ones.

It's probably a good idea to look through that earlier thread at least once to get a feel for which questions were discussed there (it's a long thread - almost 50 pages!)

    Best of luck!

    Hi, Red.

This question is really easy to answer once you get the cipher method. Besides English isn't your mother language, I think you can solve every chapter ciphers if you can guess the cipher method and you have enough patience. You can get a lot of information about differents cipher methods in Internet, but the ciphers used in the book can have some small variants from the standard ones, so if you want to be successful solving all the chapters, you'll NEED the companion book indeed.

Effectivly simple when we know the cipher principle.
I didn't know this one. Jut ordered the companion !
    Glad to see that all the book should be accessible;

The article title might seem at a glance to be about a true civil rights leader of the ocean.
