First clue for chapter 5: Riddle me this and riddle me that: the chapter number will play a critical role in where the treasure is at.

Hope this business about giving away the original artwork eagle doesn't mean Ron ran out of silver eagles... never a good sign when the store starts selling the light fixtures...

I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to chapter 4 or the solution but can somebody explain to me (in a sentence or two) how the number TWO was so important?

I recall a few clues stating that 2 was extremely important.

Thanks.

The first number/letter of question 14 was 23=W. The trick was that we needed to start over after T=20 so W=3=C. So the number 2 'figured predominantly in the solution' as the clue stated but it had to be 'clipped' as eluded to in another clue.

Of course it means he ran out of eagles. He's selling the demo model. It's a bronze eagle. Case closed. Takes too many hours to read Ron's mind deciphering FB clues to work for a piece of "art" worth \$50-100. Retail value has no meaning. There is no retail market.

sorry I meant figured 'prominently' ... the 2 of 23 is the first number you encounter so it's prominent

Morrigan, Vincent, and everyone else,

Your frustration with the game up to this point is absolutely understandable because the Facebook solutions are horrid. Give it a week.

I've solved it.

Lock, stock, and barrel.

I submitted the solution to Chapter 5 Friday morning before the Facebook clue was released, and the clue confirmed my solution.

There's only one solution to this entire game.

If the author follows his pattern, he will allow a detailed solution to be posted, and heaven knows, I'm raring to go.

I want to help give this hunt a needed shot in the arm because I want a shot at the golden eagle.

I can tell you how you were supposed to know there were two versions of chapter II, why 'American River' was underlined, why there were no missing letters in Chapter 1, how to order the missing letters, why there is 'Won more than chapter one', all of it....

And, I desparately want to do so. The danger arises that a single solution will allow some smart, motivated people--of which these forums are full--to solve the remaining chapters in somewhat rapid sequence.

As far as these Facebook clues go, once you understand how to work his game, the clues are pretty impressive.

There's a story I read about a real-life treasure hunt in which its participants travelled from location-to-location collecting clues from props, dressed-up people walking around, etc., and were told to meet inside a gym at noon to receive their final clue. 12:00 rolled around, everyone was waiting, and the chairman of the hunt went to the podium, apologized for the tardiness, saying 'The final clue is going to be here shortly,' and sat back down.

The participants started milling around and discussing the hunt, waiting for the clue to show up.

The eventual winner saw through the subterfuge, and realized the final clue was the words 'going', 'to', 'be', 'here', and 'shortly'. He plugged the words into the puzzle and won the game.

Bearing this story in mind, I highly recommend re-examining the Facebook posts of October 3 and October 17.

Keep the faith,

Doc

Good luck with that, Doc. I have moved onto a bigger and better hunt. Endgame:The Calling.

Doc, give you 10 to one on \$10 that you have not solved it. Sorry, I think you are creative and intelligent and in this case, wrong.

Doc if you have solved Chapter 5 I will be extremely happy for you. My mind will also be completely blown!

I take this hunt as a little bit of a hobby... one chapter at a time. I haven't dived into Chapter 5 yet but I might start working on it in the next few days, working through the chapters is quite a bit of fun for me.

I can totally understand the frustration level many have with the hunt... to be honest, if I had already worked through all the chapters I probably wouldn't be here right now.

"I am so sorry. We've been so busy making plans for the winner for chapter four that we have not set a time yet for getting the clues out for chapter 5. We should be getting clues out sometime in the next two weeks. Again sorry for any confusion. Ron"

Doc, you mentioned re-examining the fb posts from the last couple weeks. Did you know that the above quote was the original post from Oct 3? Many people were taking issue with it publicly on fb and then I think Ron changed it.
