Hi, I'm new to this site and am stuck on the numbers in Q1. I've converted the poem to numbers but am stuck on the cipher. It seems to me that each number should represent a letter but confused by numbers up to 46. I had ruled out certain things but now second guessing about a keyword. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. Thanks

Welcome !

Are you referring to the numbers in the Poem? or more specifically section 4 of the poem in the Chapter 9?

If so, you seem to be on the right track. Numbers up to 46 doesn't make sense for direct translations to letters. What might you do to numbers to help them be more "letter like" ?

The companion book "Cracking the Code" by the same author is great for thumbing through possible ciphers...

Q1, part4. Thanks for your input. I've tried applying Smithy and the fibonacci sequences to get the code more letter like but no luck. Am I still working in the direction?

Sounds like a good path :) You may be missing the easier route though... Based on parts 1, 2, and 3 - what would you expect part 4 to decode to???

Thats just it, I think I know what the fourth part is. The number of letters in the missing part of the poem plus the missing part of the password equals the number of "coded" numbers. But I cant find a formula that would convert the coded numbers into what letters they should represent. I've tried forward, backwards etc. I've also gone through the companion book a number of times but don't see anything similiar except for the fibonacci/smithy manipulations.

C9Q6 seems like it should be straight forward columnar transposition but I'm not getting anything that makes sense. Anyone have any hints? Thanks

Keep going this route.
