Surely this isn't just one word, just a letter string? Has everyone else solved this cipher yet?

This one is giving me fits too. I think I know how it is supposed to be solved, yet nothing I have done is yielding me an answer. I can make out some words if I stretch my imagination, but nothing coherent. Any nudges out there?

Hog/stvwz,

It seems pretty illogical that there is a 35 letter word... Not to mention the repeating letters in that word. These two things should give you a clue as to what this question IS NOT.

If you have all the questions from previous Chapters answered, you will have used the "method" to decipher this question before. This one has a slight variation. Make sure to look at the question in the book VERY carefully

All right, I have made it to the dreaded Question 20 Sudoku and I seem to be stumped as most others. Any further hints anyones wants to share?

Thanks for the post BoatDaddy. My trouble is that I haven't answered all the questions in the previous chapters yet. Being as this chapter relates to my side of the Herring Pond, I've been working on it first. So, I'm tackling this 'method' for the first time

I've also spent ages on the Q20 soduku Ace. I solved the soduku after spending ages on it, but now I'm happy it's correct. Then taking the diagonals (St Andrews cross) I've tried what seems to me to be every logical sequence starting with 4,5. (but obviously not every one!!). It seemed logical that we use either one number from each row or from each column to make up the sequence. In fact the most logical starting from the lhs or from the top, both gave the same answer. Not correct though

Hog,

From my experiences with the book, the questions "build" on each other moving into the later chapters. While I understand you may want to focus on one - going back and doing the others will help you get there. This applies to both C12-Q10 and C12-Q20.

You are probably frustrated becuase you don't have the "learnings" from the previous chapters on these two questions...

I used several different solvers on the actual soduku, and they all gave me the same answer so I'm pretty sure there is only the one solve for the entire grid. I've been trying to use math concepts to give me the answer, but so far nothing. I'm wondering if the solve is limited to the numbers only in St Andrews cross, or if the rest of the numbers in the grid effect it as well.

Wow, I just figured it out. It actually shocked me when I saw the "Correct" pop up. Now that I'm done, I'm in the "What the heck do I do now?" frame of mind. Best hint I can give, is look for a pattern and continue it. Good luck!

Thanks for your advice abot Ch12Q10 BoatDaddy. I'll do just that ... go back to the start and progress through the chapters. I'm assuming that the first instance of this method is on Ch2Q15 ?

9. ## Done

OK - I just officially joined the "all questions answered - now what do we do club"!

Next step - reread and review to see if any of the map trail can be deciphered....
