    Question Codes! Codes! Codes!

Heads are hurting! Eyes are sore! Brains are TIRED! Suggestions for code identification websites? We seem to have checked out all the google/bing sites and still some of the codes are unidentified. We guessed at a couple & got lucky, but have since ceased to make any headway! Suggestions??

I have to admit - I'm not entirely sure what you are asking! Are you looking for web sites that will identify the type of code used based on the encrypted text?

I found that the companion book (Cracking the Code) was pretty good at explaining the different types of codes frequently used in the hunt. I realize it is not a website, but it is a good starting point that will tell you what codes to do a little more research on. It also clearly explains the 3D Sudoku and gives the "real stories" behind each of the chapters.

I second that. The companion book is a great place to find a "pick list" of codes to try with this book.

The 3D sudoku explanation in the compantion book is going to be very useful later on as well...

You are correct that this statement is made in the Book of Secrets, but it's hogwash - the key can be any length (and in fact there are ciphers in this hunt that have non-5 letter solutions).

Yeah, it's probably not a good idea to assume that Nick Cage movies are credible sources of cryptography information (or any other kind of information, for that matter).
