    Scar13,

The web site. Log in to the great hunt site, and click 'tools'.

You'll see a string of planetary symbols. One of them is 'wrong'--namely, Mercury. There's another one that stands out because it's not there: Earth.

One planetary symbol that's 'wrong': 'Mercury'.
Four pairs of planetary symbols associated with 'Jupiter'.
A symbol associated with 'Tools Menu' (a menu that has four pieces--Cipher, Invisible Ink, Optic Cross, and Archives): 'Earth'.
Four out-of-place letters/symbols associated with a planet on the Cipher page: 'Sun'.

A 'mistake' at the end of the hidden poem from the book that was translated into French: 'Label the star'.
Two 'mistakes' in the tap code of chapter 5: a tap code 'L' on the bottom of p. 91 and a morse code 'S' in the first paragraph of p.98.

The object of the puzzle is to place twenty keys in sequence on the treasure map. We have to collect the pieces of the puzzle to accomplish this.

Two things to bear in mind:

    1. There's more than one definition of a 'key'.
    2. A soduku master created the puzzle for our hunt.

I think this thing's gonna have a nice, logical, elegant solution.

What makes that ellipsis different from the other 20 in the chapter?

The other 20?? You found that many in just chapter 5?? Holy cow!

With all the "deep analysis" going on for the keys, it is getting confusing. Has anyone given thought to a simple interpretation to what the clues say. The trick is to determine what clues are telling you something about the keys, and what clues are about the questions, and what clues are redherrings.

    Molnar,

I'm assuming that you called it 'that ellipsis' because you noticed it had been highlighted in the same fashion that the tap code dots are emphasized.

The highlighting/emphasis makes that particular ellipsis different.

That ellipsis together with the out-of-place, stand alone tap code 'L' are a clue set--a mini-puzzle as it were.

A morse code 'S' and a tap code 'L'. Two different letters from two different alphabets.

'L' is also a freemason character. It represents the letter 'E'.
The freemason character for 'S' is also an English alphabet letter: 'V'.

    SL and VE.

The letter 'V' is also a Greek letter: NU.

    VE NU SL

Two separate pieces of our puzzle are here, and they're worthless without the others, but maybe we can start finding some other pieces.

    1. VENUS L: 'L' is an English alphabet letter as well as a freemason cipher position. Draw the tic-tac-toe grid and put 'L' in the top right corner. This is the freemason cipher 'key of Venus'.

    2. VE NU SL: If the letter 'V' is placed to the east, the letter 'U' is placed to the north, and the letter 'L' is placed to the south--VE NU SL--can you deduce which letter would be placed to the west?

    Methinks it's 'N'.

No, you assumed incorrectly. I used 'that ellipsis' because you singled it out in your post. It has not been singled out like tap code dots; it appears to be different because it is in a different font. Just like the other two cases where an ellipsis appears in that script font in the chapter.

Hi Doc, you have already used the 'V' in your SL VE creation, unless you take it out it, which makes 'SLNUE' (LUNES) so do we have the moon or something nutty going on. Going by your tangental logic, you might as well use the 'E' on it's side and call it 'W' or 'M'.

    Methinks it's 'M' not.

Doc, We know there is a much deeper solve in this book, but be careful of the tangents that we all can take

I overlooked the underlying message. OK - I see the code and figured out what it said, but it didn't seem consistent. Sometimes a letter transposed for one letter, but other times not. IS it truly messy, or is there yet another layer to this cipher?

I think there's more but I'm still looking!

Or it could be simply a means by which to confuse a solve of the message.
