I just think that if the books were on sale normally in bookshops round the world, then if you wanted to find the other book, (or others) you could flick through and go "wow! this is the book I haven't got, this must mean something" and buy it to help add to the breast cancer cure. Having to order another book from overseas and finding it the same version as the one you already have, has got to nark a bit, unless when you order it, you could actually ask for a different book by giving your personal registration number (which you can't), which must be known by the author/seller as to which book you have!!!!
But to make it fair ( which I beleive Ron is ) you should be able to solve either version, so do we need the other version, which in fact could just be a red herring.
You could spend so much time comparing the various nuances between the different chapter versions, that you miss the obvious clues that are there in both versions, that really have nothing to do with each differing chapter.

Has anyone yet (who lives in Canada), gone to Chapters Bookshop, where the Great Hunt is on sale normally, and flicked through various copies to see if they can find a third/fourth version (he once said in one of his blog videos that there were four books), or are they all the same version in each bookstore?

This hunt is so deep that you should think of everything that could be hidden in the book/books, don't forget Ron did his thesis on this!, and what a major prize for having solved it completely!

We know that all the other chapters are the same and each chapter leads to a silver eagle, so maybe crack one of these chapters first.

Phew! got that off my chest. Peace and Love.

One of the Chapters near me has 2 copies; I will go check them out when time permits.

I saw no differences between the two books in the store, but, they were the version I didn't have, so, cool! They now have one copy in stock.

The differences must be editorial only and have no bearing on the ability to solve the puzzle. I think Ron would be in a very difficult legal position if the first version was incomplete and one needed to buy the second to solve the puzzle. The value of comparing versions would then be to spot differences on what is unimportant to solve the puzzle.

It is possible that there could be two different Chapter 2 solutions, depending on which version your book has, that you registered. But it would be a lot of extra work for the judges.

Two different versions of Chapter 2 is a golden eagle clue; nothing more, nothing less.

Just like having two different messages in the Invisible Ink. Two different versions of I.I.

Joy even told us she'd show up from TIME-TO-TIME to point out a clue or two (which is a really good description of what she's doing with the Invisible Ink clue.)

    PS--That's 2 'TIMES' and a 'TO'.

Not necessarily true. You're all thinking that the contents of the two chapter 2s is what might be important. What if the mere knowledge of the existence of two chapter 2s is what really matters? Sometimes you can learn a lot not by substance, but structure.
