    So you have actually found a "Pike Place" within the text? And have been able to incorporate the 2 Sudoku puzzles as well?

    The latest facebook clue has a 'to' that's missing. {wink, wink, nudge, nudge....}

    The author is trying really, really hard to help us out....

    There's a second clue to be solved inside the Eagle Eye.

    Rx Jeff,

    People are going to have a hard time understanding the latest Facebook clue unless they've solved the three keys and the ensuing directions.

    What is before UXXXXXX?

    The capital 'U' has three different meanings, and each one confirms the three three-letter sequences.

    1. What is before 'U'?

    TEA. That's the first.

    2. First= last. On your table of letters from the clue, first=last means Q = U.

    What is 'BEFORE _ Q'? BEFORE = B4 = 24 = X. The blank is the '2' or 'B'.

    What is 'BEFORE _ Q'?

    XBQ. That's the second.

    3. 'U' = you = me = 'I'.

    What is before 'U' = What is before 'I'?

    'H' or 8.

    ATE. That's the third.

    As you well know, ATE begins the map sequence as well, which is where the clue really kicks in. You already know what's coming next.

    'XXX'.

    Doc,
    I have *almost* the same explanations as you have. My interpretation differs somewhat...
    U before E
    you be four E
    be=B
    four=D

    Gizmo,

    Where does the 'before E' originate? The clue states, 'What is before U'?

    And, by the way, as big of a proponent of the three keys as I am, I let one swoop right past me.

    I've been having problems with a three letter sequence in the second half, and this morning I realized I had missed a key.

    When the author states the answer is divided into 'equal parts', he wasn't kidding.

    I'd spotted two of the 'equal keys' about three days ago, but I didn't think to look for a third, and it's the most obvious.

    First=last.

    If the author ever decides to release more of the map sequence, the next numbers will be 19, 18, and 9.

    Our first sequence is ATE. The beginning of the next sequence will be NS. First=last.

    TE NS

    That's a very apt description of what's coming. If you don't believe me, look at the Facebook clue from 2/1/2012.

    I've been asked to show how to place the keys of TEA and XBQ into a freemason grid. I don't know if this will come out, but I'll try.

    We use the alternating freemason alphabet because that's the one that was used for all the freemason cipher questions in the book, and it's the one that's depicted in 'Cracking the Code'.

    This works in the same way as a keyword in a Playfair grid. You place a key into certain spaces, then fill in the rest of the alphabet accordingly.

    For chapter 1, the 'First X' is TEA, and the 'X2', or second X, is XBQ. We place TEA into the first X, and XBQ into the second X of a blank freemason cipher.

    ___ ___ ___ ....... \ T /
    ___ ___ ___ ..... E \ / A
    ___ ___ ___ ........ /.\

    ___ ___ ___ ....... \ X /
    ___ ___ ___ ..... B \ / Q
    ___ ___ ___ ........ /.\

    Next, you simply fill in the rest of the alphabet letters in the alternating freemason fashion.

    C F H ....... \ T /
    J L N ..... E \ / A
    P S V ....... /Y\

    D G I ....... \ X /
    K M O ..... B \ / Q
    R U W ....... /Z\

    The final three letter sequence will always be a number. For chapter 1, it's ATE. We 'unlock the box' using the three keys, and it contains a 'letter' which tells you where to go next. We start with the '8' or 'H'.

    Look on your regular freemason grid for the letter 'H'. It's ordinarily in square 4 of the second 3 x 3. On our new key, the 'H' position is now a 'K'. Look for 'K' on the regular grid. The 'K' position is now occupied by 'N'.

    Rinse and repeat.

    You'll wind up generating a 24-letter sequence that begins H K N R W A C.

    After you complete this, go back and assign the appropriate telephone key to each letter. H = 4, K = 5, etc.

    Your set of 'directions' to begin work on the map sequence begins with 'I'.

    You'll notice that the 1 - 2 - 3 are missing. Since you already know its answer, ATE, maybe you can reverse engineer that portion of the puzzle. The Optic Cross can help, and there's more than one way to obtain the ATE.

    I looked at it again, and I thought I made a mistake, and now I've changed my mind again back to my original thinking.
    What is before U? I did not interpret the "before" part literally. I split it. My explanation should have read more like this...
    be fore U = be four E
    fore = four is the middle
    B 4 E = B D E = 2 4 5

    Gizmo,

    Where is the 'E' coming from? How is 'U' equivalent to the 'E'?

    New clue negates both of these predictions
