Steve, I completely agree with your alpha key.

I'm referring to the latest batch of numbers. It confirms without a doubt that you're correct. It's a secret message contained within the clue.

    13 24 16 20 7 17 19 2 9 17 23

    Start with the key FIRST.

    13 24 16 20 7 is the ciphertext
    6 9 18 19 20 is the key as FIRST.
GO X AM is the resultant plaintext.

GO 10AM FIRST as the 'first key'.

If you continue the decryption, use FIRSTLASTPI, for FIRST LAST PI (which is an apt description of the three keys), and it becomes something else.

This obviously isn't the main answer because it doesn't use all the letters, but I think it's a hidden message within it.

If anybody wishes to help out with the main answer, I'd appreciate it.

The author is trying very hard to tell the players something, but you've got to pay attention to his clues.

Consider the following clue: The sixth number of the sequence is the second number used to open the compartment in National Treasure: Book of Secrets.

You used the second number from the sequence used to open the compartment containing the actual book, namely a '3', and went on your merry way.

You have GOT to pay closer attention and not let the author pull the wool over your eyes.

There was another compartment and it had a second number used to open it: 1 8 7 6.

Go look at question 13. This clue is a hint about the second set of 10 as well.

I'm sitting here at the end of all this, and I'm about to pop. I'm working on the first three chapters simultaneously. I despise the gag order--I really like sharing everything, even if it means somebody beats me to the punch.
