Lurker/Outsider here again. I'm on the cusp of buying the book and joining the hunt in another few weeks, so my questions now will become moot once I gain full access to the entire website. I've enjoyed reading everyone's description of their map solutions, but have always wondered whether you actually submit a simple sequence of 20 numbers, or whether those stand for some other objects you are dragging into place to submit a visual sequence on the web form. I understand you get 20 "keys" in exchange for the answers to the 20 trivia questions, so I was imagining that each such key is a graphic element, an image with its own meaning, and that you've all numbered them for convenience to be able to compare sequences. After seeing the discussion about the first 10 numbers, I think maybe not.

I thought I had seen someone suggest that the sequence came from the first letter of each word in a section of the text (maybe the first letter of each sentence or paragraph), but I also see people have posted a sentence (which I assume comes from a random location in Chapter One) and mapped the sequence to the first *appearance* of each letter in that sentence. If this is the meaning of your alphabetic "alpha key", then wouldn't the "omega key" simply be the last letter in each word or the last occurance of each letter in another section of the text?

Again, I look forward to getting my own copy of the book and catching up with everyone here, and then trying these theories for myself. I do hope you get confirmation of what the correct sequence was for Chapter One. I watched A Treasures Trove fall quickly after the initial breakthru, so I secretly hope this one is not all based on a single mechanism. See you at the 13th finish line!

The map is just a flash form that has the numbers 1 thru 20 that you drag in order.

Re: your thoughts on the omega key, I think that is a brilliant idea.

We need to attempt a post-mortem on Chapter 1 to figure out what to attempt next.

I'm still thinking about the three keys and a set of directions.

I don't know if you remember, but the three keys boiled down to a 'First X' and an 'X2'.

Since this is chapter 1, it's conceivable the answer could have been as simple as interpreting that as FIRST TEN and SECOND TEN.

In other words, you would go through the text until you found the first instances of TEN. The second instance of TEN is on p. 7 line 8, and it's stated as TEN TO TWENTY MINUTES. Since we were looking for the second set of ten, this looks like a possibility, especially considering the later Facebook clues about 'Five minutes later', and '...a few minutes later'.

As a note, the paragraph containing this phrase begins as 'A few minutes later.....'.

If this was indeed the case, then how should we have ordered the final ten?

Doc

I have to disagree with the three key theory for chapter one.

there were two keys of equal length, alpha and omega.

5. I definitely agree Doc! However, I don't think we can really get into it too much until we know what the winning sequence turns out to be. I believe like Guttom though that it was 2 keys of 10 numbers each, with the alpha key beginning where we all seem to agree, before the mist. However what will make or break this chapter was where that starting place of the omega turned out to be. There are so many differing view points on this given the variety of clues. I'm willing to bet though that it started somewhere on 9 or 10, depending on how "literal" you wanted to be with a few clues.

We shall see....

I went with 10, where Brad and the "old Man" were standing in front of the cabin.

7. But the Omega was supposed to start before "What you know". which is on 9. However, if you were going from back to front...

We don't know for sure if he was talking about the phrase on page 9. If he was technically all the pages before that one could also contain the omega key

9. I am fairly confident that there were two very different solutions for chapter 1.

I have a great solution that I think will trump the winning one. Have to wait til they release the solution to reveal it.

And I'm going to kick myself if I was so close but got one thing mixed up.
