"someone could therefore reasonably conclude that the information would be made public before the chapter would be solved"

Exactly. The quote seems to assume that they expected a solution before the words "Chip" or "Maxie" or "Celestial-Love" or "Brad" appeared anywhere on the internet (at which point everyone instantly knows there's more than one version).

Considering this is a hunt where they encourage even public collaboration in the book's intro, this would appear to imply that they believe this chapter is so trivially easy once you know that there are two chapters that you're almost guaranteed to solve it with little effort before anyone has time to post on a forum "Chip..."

I came to that exact conclusion the second I read that clue the first time. And my belief lasted right up until I realized after much hair-pulling that I was going to need those bajillion clues I mentioned earlier...

Very strange that there was no clue on Friday. Maybe someone has solved it?

There have been a couple Fridays that there has been no clue.the strange part was waiting til 8pm EST
To tell us that there was no clue.

They haven't checked this weeks submissions yet and I dont think they would hesitate in telling us someone has won.

That being said.i hope someone has won this chapter already!

Never mind. I just solved it myself. The epic clue was of Biblical proportions.

    A bible verse, yes.

But, what to make of it? The other part of the clue implies it's a red herring. Does that mean everything bible-related in a red herring? Or anything related to any of the numerous books it appears in is a red herring? Or only the first half is a red herring? And do you consider the pair of clues "This clue", or is it two separate clues, one which is a red herring and one which is not? Or is it just random filler around the intended message -- the one that's a herring?

Here's a bonus clue for you all:

The Maltese Eagle in San Francisco Sept 14, 2012 - YouTube

Go to 50 seconds in. You will see a hidden frame in the video. Either it's shoddy editing, or it's intentional. Since the image isn't used anywhere else in the video, it doesn't make much sense as an editing error.

Hope that makes up for no clue Friday.

    OH SNAP, LOBSTER!
I have always leaned in that direction, but was always "chasing my tail" trying to find a sequence that fit and now I did. In doing so, I also found the twins and believe now that at least half of my sequence is correct. If I win the silver eagle, I will make a pirate out of it and give you one of the sapphire eyes then cover the missing eye with a patch!
Yes, the editing is suspect and I believe, as you do, that it was intentionally edited in because it fits with several Ron Shore-esque type clues. Thanks!

my question is, when you know what this twins are (i still dont), is it obvious you are supposed to exclude them? i mean could you deduce that without knowing that clue?
