Apparently, according to Facebook, the winner has already been contacted.

Glad to hear the winner was contacted.

Let's talk about what we did wrong so we can figure out what to do right.

I was led to page 7, line 8. TEN TO TWENTY 'MINUTES'.

The problem was finding the starting place of the omega key.the alpha key was found in such a short amount of words yet I couldn't find the same for the omega key.my search was based around finding a j and q that were relatively close together

So where were the directions that told you to start with At ten o'clock in the morning and use the first 10 in that sequence, then stop? And I still have not figured out what the planet symbols are for on the tools page. The ten to twenty minutes had something to do with omega, but did that mean start the sequence somewhere in the chapter text starting with the last letter in the alpha sequence and then using the next 10 as your omega?
Won't be able to solve any other chapters unless these types of questions are answered.

The clue from October 31st last year said the answer was in equal parts.

Also regarding future chapters.i don't think knowing the solution from chapter one will
Have any effect in solving future chapters.i believe firmly that each chapter is solved differently.

Knowing the solution can help you understand how Ron's mind works, which will help in future chapters.

I'm simply referring back to the fact that the solution is to be found in the text and I would like to find the text that got me the first 10 in the sequence before he started giving them out.

Hey ...I finally figured out the clue which said "what is missing?"....what is missing, of course, were the directions on how to extract the letters for the sequence!

I Dont think anyone could have solved it without the additional clues, honestly.

My biggest problem, and it took about 1.5 years to become even half clear, was what the sub-sequence size(s) were. In fact, I'm still not 100% sure because of the conflicting information.

Over a year ago, Ron provided a clue that "a number of people have solved the first 6 numbers". That, to me, was pretty much him stating that the first six numbers were a sub-sequence. Otherwise, why on earth would you say six? To confuse people and make the hunt unsolvable for a year? Using the hints at symmetry, we then have to assume 3 sequences: 6,8,6 (and there's a lot of evidence that 3 is important -- a lot more than 2).

Even now, I cannot see how "the first six numbers" are any more special than the first 7 numbers, or first 10 numbers. If in fact the first 10 numbers are a sequence, then mentioning six numbers effectively shut the hunt down for a year.

Of course, a sequence size of 6 made no sense when "extra bonus clues" were released such as "at least 20... have half correct" and "answer is in equal parts", etc. So to this day I'm not sure what the heck that "6 numbers" thing was about, and whether it was a clue to something I never worked out or something just incredibly misleading. And even if it IS six, there isn't much evidence of 6 being important.

There is evidence in the story that sequences were size 4 or 5 too, as the paragraph mentioning "4 or 5 bills" in a row hinted at. A sequence of "5 bills" could have been one of 4 sequences of length 5, for example. There is almost no evidence in the text that two sequences of 10 are required. "Half-laughed, half-coughed" if you squint and hold your disbelief for half a second might be a hint, and its in a paragraph with a jeep, but it's a pretty huge logical leap to make any assumptions on sequence length from it.

So while I believe that the hunt may have been solvable over the last couple of months with the 20 new clues, I highly doubt that had every person on the planet been playing for the first year and a half that anyone would have solved it.
