I have many weeks of clues in my notes, all discussed openly in scattered thread on this forum.
Maybe they were not posted or archived on Facebook, but they were certainly gathered here.

I hear ya Lobster...Got mine as well. Ya know, the funny thing is that I have come up with very viable solutions that all make perfect sense and fit within all of the clues and yet still not correct. I'm starting to believe that by the time we actually figure out the "mechanism" that everyone talks about, the golden eagle will already have been won.

Just because people are seeking something doesn't mean it exists (Eldorado anyone?).

I am fairly confident there is no universal "mechanism" for unlocking all of the chapters. There's no free ride. It doesn't really make sense either -- you use "the method" to solve Chapter 1, and a month later your 11 closest friends have silver eagles? Does anyone really think Ron would risk that? I don't.

I have seen enough evidence to be fairly sure that each chapter is its own puzzle, with its own solution, its own clues, and its own secrets. Oh, I think that there are definitely "universal clues", but not in the "universal mechanism" sort of way. This is also sensible design. It means that those people who work hard on earlier chapters will have a small advantage in the interpretation of future chapters. That's the sort of incentive I think you'd want to program in as a puzzle designer.

So I think of this hunt more along the lines of "Cloud Atlas", rather than "Groundhog Day".

I am getting closer with C3 myself. I think I've narrowed it down, based largely on clues in the book itself. In fact, I think I can trace a path to where I am using zero facebook clues as of now. As with C1 and C2, it's the last very specific details (exact letter or word to start on, for example) that is 90% of the problem.

Very nice, Lobster, but I feel compelled to correct this: "to find your pleasure in the last cluE
a simple addition cipher must dO
the treasure will be found by what was missinG
not seeing what is there and reminiscinG"

The actual clue indicated "foun by what is missing," Not "found by what is missing."

What's missing? Clearly, the "d" in found.

Lobster, believe it or not, I am on the same page as you. I don't believe that there is exactly the same universal mechanism. However, I do believe that there is a mechanism for each chapter, which is related to that specific chapter in a unique way. Although the individual mechanism is different for each chapter, I believe there is a universal way to find the individual mechanism. I am pretty sure I am correct, but until chapter 3 is solved, I won't be positive. Basically, I believe it comes down to HOW to find the answer (which is what I believe I have), but like you, I don't have the specific on WHERE to start the answer. Look at it like this: in the movie National Treasure, there was a way to find the way to read the map. This is what I believe I have, now I just need to find the second part which is simply the way to read the map. At some point after chapter 3 is solved and I am certain my logic applies I will probably share in more detail what I am referring to.

On a side note, I really wish I had worked on chapter 2. The clue you posted above pretty much told you to look for the letter at the end of the line. Granted, I probably wouldn't have figured it out because we were to infer the last 2 letters, which probably would have stopped me dead in my tracks, but I'll never know now.

It would not have stopped you that dead, as there would only have been two letters and two slots, two options. It's always easy with hindsight
