    Lobster,

    The choices are few.

    1. Ron told a quester that they did not need both versions of the book in error. That would be criminally stupid.
    2. Ron deliberately lied which would be fraudulent and immoral.
    3. Ron told the truth.

If either choice 1 or 2 is correct what does that say about him and the construction of the hunt?

As far as the making of the eagles goes, go to the Great Hunt page and try the link to the sculptor, Kevin Peters. It no longer works. And last I checked, neither did the link to the silver eagle appraisal.

I hate the negativity of this discussion, but this specific topic actually does bother me.

It seems trivially obvious to me that an individual who has both C2 chapters will be able to gain more insight into how Ron writes, thinks, hides clues, uses red herrings, etc than someone with one chapter. In other words, having both chapter 2's should logically put one at an advantage in reading and understanding future chapter solutions. In other words, if you're new to the hunt, you sure as heck want to be getting your hands on the other copy.

    Morrigan,

I am sure the silver eagle appraisal is just an oversight. A website as large as Ron has for the hunt is a huge undertaking and links do break. I have seen nothing but honesty from Ron and his comment about the 2 books could mean he was only thinking of it from his perspective, and not from ours as to where we could learn from past chapters and gain insight that would help us on the rest.

By the way, I was the one who asked Ron in the first place to put on the website the silver eagle appraisal ( I was curious) It was done within a day or so and I was then emailed to let me know it was up. I am sure that if you emailed Ron about it, his response would be quick and friendly.

    Happy hunting!

It would be priceless if one of Ron's biggest critics, Vincent, won the eagle.

For some reason the appraisal link takes you to ..... https://www.greathunt.com/?action=d7...0Appraisal.jpg

but if you remove the middle part from the above URL and enter .... https://www.greathunt.com/images/Sil...0Appraisal.jpg

this takes you to the appraisal page, so probably a website glitch.

    Lauren,

I noticed the appraisal was not listed a couple of months ago so I contacted Ron and asked him to replace it. He responded and indicated that he would.

But he never did so quickly. I checked it daily for a week or so. Nada. In fact, he didn't do it at all. Hence, it didn't slip his mind nor was it an oversight (he told me he would).

I did, however, find it on Wikipedia. I was curious as to estimated melt value. That'd be around $6k.

But, the appraisals (over time) have ranged from around $20k to over $35k. Estimated tax rates would be based on appraised value.

Hence, unless personally reappraised, taxes are greater than melt value. But, that'd be even worse in the UK.

I have a related question. How could the gold eagle statue be worth $5 million dollars? If it is that easy to quadruple your money shouldn't we all be spending our time making golden statues?

Sierra, the game and the golden eagle statue were conceived and created several years ago when the price of gold was MUCH less than it is now.

If I had known the price of gold were skyrocket, I WOULD have been making golden statues. LOL.

This is distressing to think that being taxed on the silver eagle and the cost if the trip to get it might put someone financially in the red. OUCH!

The cost of the trip is paid for by Ron so that part won't leave you out of pocket.
