If the second clue is a reference to a movie strarring Tom Cruise(who with his Scientology disgusts me, buts that a personal commentary) and the first word on the 12th line at the beginning of the story is the word "tom" and the most recent clue actually gives the page number of the beginning of the story, is Ron trying to point us to this page as he did with a previous clue from chapter two? The clue referencing the page numbers where the sequence started in the men's and women's story.
I know that was a huge run-on sentence as pointed out by my wife.
Discussions on these clues? Always a "Secantroam". Why was the "S" capitalized? The anagram clue from chapter two was in all capital letters.

Hmmm...very interesting points! So I was using an earlier assumption that "Secantroam" was the "scent=aroma" answer, but that did not fit in with the idea of the page number. Perhaps I need to reevaluate the first clue, or that the number was not referring to a page number. Any thoughts?

I found an interesting item while searching for the answer to the 'prime number' clue. I was on a website that lists anything to do with a certain number and they had: "The angle having a secant of 5/3 is very close to 53 degrees." Probably a coincidence....?

The secant will be a straight line that will intersect a curve at two or more points. Either a "U" or upside down "U". I'm thinking way off the wall here, but maybe the answer is using the curve & the start of the curve would start where roam, omar, mora etc...or another form of those letters is the start of the curve. Kind of like the last chapter where they went down the cliff. Anyone see where I'm coming from???

trpldeuce---I follow you and if you should turn that "U" 90 degrees it would make it a letter "C". Hmm, what is the word to represent the letter "C?"

    Jeff,

Your posting made me stop and think--I thank you for that. I've not yet solved the second clue, so I can't comment on that.

I'm thinking there are three different things going on with all these clues:

    1. There's a 'Facebook Clue Solution', and that's how the first two chapters were solved.

    2. There's a 'Book Solution' that has yet to be understood. I think it's an underlying mechanism that's moving from chapter-to-chapter.

    3. There's a 'Golden Eagle' puzzle that's hiding here as well.

The straightforward interpretations are part of the 'Facebook Clue Solution'. There seems to be an undercurrent in many of these extra clues that are trying to help us with the 'Book Solution' and 'Golden Eagle' puzzle as well. I can't tell which is which at this point.

The straightforward interpretation of the 'Secantroam' is Scent Aroma, or his example of first = last. The undercurrent one is Sacramento--which would explain why it's capitalized. The capital of 'CA'.

The straightforward interpretation of the prime number clue is '53', or the page number, as you've noted. The undercurrent one is the formatting. Look at the number of days in each month: 10 - 11 - 11 - 11 - 10. First = last again. X III/III X

    Doc,
I have followed your thinking from chapter one and agree that there are clues to solve each chapter inter-mingled with golden eagle clues. We both found way too many "TEA" and "I LOST" type of findings, as you know, to be a coincidence. And that is what makes solving each chapter so difficult. Since Ron never explains his clues, we really never know what the anagram "Always a Secantroam" means. It could also mean "Always a mascot near" due to the many hidden objects/animals in the picture at the beginning. We just will never know. Or since there are many mentions of the word "Charlie" in the story, also the code word for the letter "C" it could mean "Always a "C" on a stream." This should raise some eyebrows to those that read this post due to the many references also about the stream in the chapter and the fact that Charlie"knows there is gold in there" referring to the stream. Maybe the solution is "rolling" in and out, above and below and on the banks of a literary stream of words found in the chapter. Maybe it's in the shape of a letter "C". Whatever it is, I agree that there are other hidden clues found to solve the golden eagle puzzle.
