I would be very interested at this point to hear from those people that think they are on the right track and that these clues are "confirming" things for them.

I wish I had something to share with everyone at this point.

I am no closer to a solution than they are to finding that Malsysian jet and I have had a year and muliple clues.

Ron says it is not that hard and to start by revisiting our French friend Voltaire and his "judge a man by his questions."
Which man are we judging? Ron Shore, so revisit the questions at the end of the chapter? Or Mick in the story? He asks many questions.
And remember it is "both questions."

I have been very supportive of Ron throughout the hunt (while others were critical of how he is running his project), but I am disappointed with today's clue. Does he really think that we don't keep referring back to the clues. Hitting us over the head with the fact that it is easy doesn't help me. I still think the hunt is lots of fun (and I do think I am close to solving either chapter 4 or 5), but today's hint was a "non-hint". Hopefully everyone continues to enjoy the hunt.

Here's hoping these 'previous clues' might be from earlier chapters.....

I'm still thinking and hoping there's an underlying methodology that I haven't been smart enough to figure out that lets one 'know' your solution is correct.

I think at this point Ron should request we all send our best solution with a hundred words or less essay telling why we think it is the solution and let him pick a winner.

Actually, not a totally bad idea. Whatever we come up with is just as valid - and random - as whatever he came up with.

Why not do an actual key placement clue like this:
The twelth number of the sequence you seek is the answer to the universe, life and everything else divided by the lucky number.
Now, was that so difficult? I thought it up in about one minute. I do not believe giving one actual key placement will cause a race to enter submissions.

Click on the eye of the eagle??? Boring!!!

Give us a humdinger of a clue... BUT... make it extremely challenging and exciting to find... the be all and END all of clues...

Click on the eye of the eagle, good start... but it should lead you somewhere.

I really wish this treasure hunt started feeling more like a treasure hunt.

Click on the eye... BOOM, takes you to the optic cross, BOOM, takes you to the eye-bleeding invisible ink... BOOM, takes you to a sponsor website... BOOM BOOM BOOM, takes you on an adventure!!!!!!!!!

    YEEEEEHAAAAA!!!! GIDDY UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that Ron has been fair with his handling of the clues for this chapter. I know it has been a long road we've been on, but everytime I review the clues, I see something I missed.

Even though this has been a bit frustrating, I have still enjoyed it. I never expected to win an eagle in the first place. My satisfaction has been to see if I could just get close to the solution. So far on the past three chapters, I have been heading in the right direction and had parts of it correct, but came up short. For the amount of time I have had available to spend on the hunt, I feel I have made good progress. Let us enjoy the hunt, and keep up the spirits. I know Ron wants someone to win the eagle, deservedly.
