# Thread: CHAPTER 4 - discussion and clues

1. I think it will be just like chapter 2. You will find 10 alpha numbers and only 8 of the omega (because 2 went on a hunt of their own) so you have to guess the last 2 omega. I think the 2 equal parts clue is necessary so you stop alpha after 10 numbers.

I think the 3 straggling numbers clue is to let us know that the 16th, 17th and 18th numbers will be found quite a bit away from the rest of the 8 omega keys... probably a hint not to give up to soon.

I thought it interesting that Ron said some people were 'on the right track' and some were 'just about there'. I wonder if he made these comments based on submissions or reading forums like these?

Out of context for me, reading this clue makes me think of doing modulo math on higher numbers. If you find the number 29, normalize it to 3 for the letter C. (Of course, I assume you are finding letters in the text and converting them to numbers for your keys, so this probably is not the correct interpretation.)

Did I miss something? I do not see any clue about 3 straggling numbers.

This clue had 3 sentences. I'd like to think that the first sentence leads to the start of the first keys, the second sentence leads to start of second set of keys and the third sentence about the husband and wife is supposed to tell us how to figure out the keys. That said, I don't have any idea what the husband and wife sentence is telling us to do.

Not yet, but it is interesting how you can find new possible embedded clues after over a year. I imagine this one will get cracked eventually, then there will be some excitement.

Who knows? Not sure how you would ever be able to know that you had the first 10 correct? I've got tons of good looking first-tens, but it's simply impossible to know if something you think is a validator is real or not. The same problem that has plagued us since chapter 1 continues: no way to know that you have a partial answer. No way to know that you are on the right track.

It's sitting right in front of you...I think? This is my own interpretation. Look at the length, location and progression carefully.

Anyhow, it's been painful to catch up so I'll toss some more ideas out. I'm almost certain my starting points have been right all along. It's one of two choices: "no one's sure" or "how far". I tried for months on the first option, and I am exploring the second option now. What has been painfully tough is not finding all 26 letters inside quotes. There are many things that happen in two's or more, just not in quotes.

To give you an idea of progression that I see as somewhat logical:

How far..
how many steps so far..

The beginning and end are the same...and something else introduced in the middle. Doc, take note of that one

The evens truly have it. I'm reading this as every second letter...ie skip...or every second word, or maybe even every second line? There is a sequence in the book "i think EVERY third ONE represents STEPS". Same clue as "every one" counts...with a little help.

I still don't know where to start or finish? I think the "theme's" clue and snare is hinting at that though. Time to re-visit that thought.

10. Clues meant to throw us off? Really? Has not the text of the story done enough of this? See you all in September when clues meant to finally get a solution will be released.
