Can only solve with clues. Not enough clues.

Chapter 5 clue: Using the empty Sudoku puzzle on page 103, if the number is divisible by 5 remove it, if the number is greater than 30 remove it, remove the loneliest number, if there is a triplet left over take it out, one of the perfect square numbers remaining will help you on your way.

Thoughts?

The primary clue is unfortunately another "disembodied integer" clue, where there's a number, and no noun (or even a strongly correlated idea) to be able to logically interpret it with.

It gives an answer, X. But X what? Does it represent a key X? Is it a letter X? And if so, is it pre or post cipher letter X? Is it a hint to a page number? Is it pointing to question X? And if so, is that page relative to the start of the chapter? Or word number? Or number of keys? Or a hint to a piece of text? Or something else? And you can't even really guess, because there are more than one of these Xs, so the problem is doubled in size. There ends up being about 20 or 30 things that it could be referring to. Shrug.

Clever way to hide a clue, but not really actionable.

Lobster,

How do you think the answer is 'X'?

So, breaking this clue down, how do you think it's supposed to be solved?

I'm very interested here.

It is the same clue that was seen in chapter 4. You will need to use every letter to solve this one. Perfect number is 26. There you go.

Perfect "square" number. One, four or nine.

Jeff, I can live with that. Is 'one' a perfect square number?

How do you think the other parts fit into the clue?

I'm genuinely interested.

Help you on your way is the same as get started. The first key is 1,4 or 9. If someone else feels this is wrong, please explain.
1x1=1. 2x2=4 3x3=9.
