I get the shadow part, which is interesting. I don't understand the hand part... exactly what you mean.

In C4, there was no trap, and no rabbits came out of a hat or red hare-ing. I'm fairly sure it was just connections with the answers to the questions.

Just for fun, C5Q15 anagrams to "LOBSTERED" or "BIGFOOT". Now THAT is a red herring lol

If you overlay page 1 on to the page with Q14, the word 'hand' on page 1 overlays exactly on to the sixth letter of the solution numbers in Q14... Just saying that his clue says the first 5 have been found and the solution is 'close at hand' so maybe the clue was a confirmer of alpha.

My father, clever? Resourceful? I can't imagine it. Suddenly the question escapes before I can grab it.

I kind of figured the pictures held some sort of clue, but never imagined removing the it and over-laying it onto another page. The Kryptos clue and the rhomdo what the hell clues were ridiculous.
    Lobster,
I also had alpha before that clue. Why release total red herring clues and then release a statement that your team cannot believe it had not been solved and was totally easy. Ron and his significant other LeeAnn comprise the team now. I wonder if the clues for chapter 5 were written years ago or are fresh.

Not suggesting you are incorrect, but without a logical path of thought it would appear to be a random coincidence to me:

    1. What instructions, anywhere, suggest to rip out a page of the book and place it on top of page 83?

    2. What then suggests that the feet of the person is alpha? Surely the HAT is alpha (start at the needle // needle is also known as sombrero), which reverses your theory?

    1. True, I haven't found 'instructions' to do that but at some point I was possessed to do it. Haven't you seen treasure hunters overlaying maps and images in movies?

    2. Actually the shadow starts at a person's feet and spreads out away from them... Or not, I guess I'm saying it's open to interpretation.

Yep, nothing wrong at all with the technique of doing that.. It would be a clever clue I would think!

The thing is, if this were a movie and someone were to lay a page on a map, big bright letters would shine through the page saying TREASURE LIES HERE, and all of the characters would exclaim and gasp and celebrate.

I don't see any such sign of relevance matching 83 with the image. Nothing indicates to me that anything useful has just been found. I wouldn't be surprised if overlaying was used somewhere in the book, but just don't see enough of a validator here. It was good thinking though

P.s. Your observation about the chapter intros containing valid clues (and herrings) is absolutely true.

For what it is worth, I don't know if the overlay works or not, but I do know another quester emailed artist Dean Lauze. She asked if anything was hidden in the chapter drawings. He said no, but Ron and he had discussed doing that it but decided against it.

I doubt the artist would/could admit to it... probably would violate their contract. It looks to me like some of the drawings were altered after the fact. It wouldn't surprise me if we find out later that the shadow was drawn after and not by the original artist.

I don't know, it could be coincidence and me just seeing this type of connection because I was really, really, really hoping it was that kind of treasure hunt.
