I find it interesting that he included the picture with the clue this time. Some clues have double meanings.

Any thoughts on the first person? Or whether we have to use a playfair grid. And if so, how do we set up the grid and is there a keyword?

Hi all, here are some thoughts based on the past few clues.

Not even born to start. I really like the (not even = odd), but I'm wondering, since Ron tends to repeat clues, is "not even born" the age of zero? In which case we are looking at a recycled clue akin to start counting from 0. Either way, it's only an interpretation and not an epiphany of any sorts...

The clue about first "person": we are bouncing around the idea of first person from a literal sense, or looking to start the T sequence geographically in the chapter near a reference or name of a person. "person" is in quotations which seems to us that it's not so much about the first, and more about the person reference. Lots of clues already about Mel Fisher, so that feels reasonable, but also perhaps too obvious? Also the clue on Sep 28 was about differences amongst people. Differences seemed to the be focus of that clue because a clue prior to that was "what's the diff man". However, with the first "person" clue, maybe person or people are the keywords of the clue, instead of looking for differences?

The latest clue: Redo your thinking... skipping looks good, but might be too obvious. I'm more intrigued about the 2 Capital letters in the clue, one of which is a T.

And, the clue of May 17, which had the eagle picture, now shows up on my FB without the eagle photo. Not sure if that's consistent for everyone or just my machine.

    Good luck!

Not even born to start. For me, the interpretation is "not even", odd or abnormal. This kind of birth might require a caesarean section.

The first person is interesting and depends on your choice, because there may be more than one. The first person in the chapter is St Augustine. If paired with the believe it or not clue on wikipedia, it may take you to and odd place in Florida. Mel fisher would be the other choice. Given the "Double entendre" clue, both may be right?

The differences amongst PE OP LE could be OAS, which is the the opposite of TDY or ToDaYs. That interpretation seems to fit, given the latest clue.

Not even born to start... first thing I thought of was Mel since he was not born at the time the story begins so maybe we to start before Mel enters the story?.

As for the first person, one meaning could be the letter I is the most important since a story told in the first person uses the letter I ... I was used in the playfair grid for this chapter and if you look at the grid, see where the I is located and notice the pattern that follows and then look at Dec 9th clue again. So why is I important? If you use 'Today is the day' instead of 'Today's the day' for your playfair key, you wouldn't be able to decipher the poem.

I think that some of the clues are aimed at solving the chapter's hidden text, others at solving key orders and some that can apply to both.

Well we are done with clues for the summer. Another chapter taking two years to solve.
Anyone able to solve the last clue word scramble?
Something like: This chapter, the good theme should not be counter, blah, blah

As a lurker, I sometimes check their Facebook wall for the weekly clue. In the past, I've been able to bypass the nag box with a "not now" selection and read without logging in. (I am not a member.) But now FB obscures the page with a box which insists I either log in or sign up, which I refuse to do. For the record, here's what I think I see as this week's clue:

June 7: Good things, clue should know, to in the theme of this not count.

Thirteen words, half an alphabet's worth, no reasonable way to sort them or group them, just random order? (The middle word is 'in' going from either end.) Should the commas remain fixed in the sequence or go with their original words? I do not envy you.

Beats me too. Can't get it to say anything that makes sense.

Fun fact: There are nearly 6,227,021,000 combinations of those 13 words.

...yes but if you consider that only certain words can come before or after other words, it narrows it down a bit. For example, consider what can follow the word 'the'... the things, the clue, the theme. Do this for other words like 'not'. 'this' and 'to' and you find there are not that many options.

If we consider catherwood's suggestion that the comma's are fixed to the words they follow, then one possibility is:
Good to know, this clue not in the theme of things, should count. (Could mean that any clues that do not have something about the story should be used?)

but the of course another possibility would be:
Good to know, this clue in the theme of things, should not count. (Which could mean a bunch of things of how to dismiss clues... clues not ciphered, clues on date combinations...?)
