I started out with rearranging words, but have found little that fits. There is too many choices. Instead, I propose a substitution, which might make sense. The brackets may be off, but get the idea.

Good things,
clue should know,
to (in the theme of this) not count.

This last clue is interesting. Perhaps you compare the clue as given to how the clue should be written out.

Good things, clue should know, to in the theme of this not count. Compared to: Good things you should know, two is the theme of this, not counting.

3. The theme is "todays the day" and it doesnt count.
No keyword in the fairplay grid. Every time you go down the stairs of the grid you increase the value by five. You can only do this with no keyword. The favorite phrase is not a must in this case.

... interesting... would play into that clue a while back "The 25 you seek are in the same order as they have been and will forever be." and the one before that "All Five Kings"... the A, F, K would be the letters down the left side of the grid.

That is a lot better solution for the "All Five Kings" clue than what I had. But it seems to contradict other clues. Maybe it is just a clue to tell you to use a playfair to solve?

I think I am missing the bigger picture for solving this chapter.

6. Anyone want to tackle the conflicting clues?
What about "one way to get to the solution is to just add one"
Sure hints at shift minus one which would make A equals zero. But we know we have
To perform a fairplay/playfair and many are suggesting that is too difficult. We have never had
To do two ciphers in any chapter to solve it.

... well that could also mean use a no keyword playfair grid.

8. Redo your thinking. Until you change the way you look at this you will not be able to solve it.
But what is it we are looking at or doing incorrectly?

9. Based on my observations, the clue "Not even born to start, but start you must" refers to some letters that are not used initially, but are useful later.

10. Useful later as in for omega?
