    Default The Secret wiki

Following AnotherDoth's lead, some of us have been editing a wiki devoted to The Secret:

    http://thesecret.pbwiki.com/

...which you should definitely check out if you haven't already. I am designating this topic as a discussion space for issues related to the wiki.

I hate to rain on people's parade, but the idea of a Generic Solution does not seem constructive to me. I don't think there is a generic solution in the sense that all 12 images conform to a solution recipe. This isn't A Treasure's Trove, where all 12 of the original tokens were found using variations of the same 5x5 grid. Thinking along those lines can lead us down blind alleys.

I don't think there is enough evidence to conclude that there is a state map, or even a map, in all the images. There doesn't have to be a specific link between verses and images. I do not think that the location of the jewel within the image has any relevance at all. There is also not enough evidence to say that every verse has a reference to a cross street, although there are occasional streetname references.

There IS enough evidence to say that every image has a reference to a month/hour, birthstone, and birthflower. There IS enough evidence to say that most images (at least 9 of them) contain hidden latitudes and longitudes, as well as a landmark of some sort.

I know I could address these myself, but I am reluctant to remove other people's work after they put so much time into it. I would prefer to convince them through argument.

Nice FB....always the level headed one. I must concur: lats/lons seem logical as well as some sort of landmark. A DEFINITE is the birth month images....just what to do with them..?..who knows yet.

.........time to add a DAR ring to my collection.........

    Forrest-

As this will come as no surprise, I disagree with some of
your conclusions. The one thing that I whole heartedly
agree with is that one casque's solution will not create a blue
print or even be remotely similar to another casque's solution.

9/12 does not create a generic pattern any mor or less
    than 6/12.

I think the topic on the wiki should not say "Generic", but
    "Common Puzzle Devices"

With only two casques unearthed and presumedly, three more
soon to see the light of day, I think generalities should wait until
the next three final location confirmers have been solidified.

As said before, "Thin skins need not apply"

    Let's dig some holes!

I will happily entertain theories if there is any evidence for them. I have seen no evidence for the theory that jewel placement is important in any image. In no sense was this the case for the two casques that have actually been found. In fact, both were found without having to look at the images as maps with significant jewel placement, and Preiss said of the Cleveland find that all the clues were solved.

Another note... The (A), (B), etc. in the "Possible Generic Solution" section was intended to match up with the column headers in the table below, but it strangely went awry.

With only two casques unearthed and presumedly, three more soon to see the light of day, I think generalities should wait until the next three final location confirmers have been solidified.
That I can agree with - Let's dig some holes indeed!

I couldn't agree more! Please feel free to change the wiki to read "Common Puzzle Devices" or anything else that you think will help another person share your understanding of the puzzle.

    Let's find those casques!
