Default Questions about this treasure hunt

Hello! I have stopped by this forum several times. I am intrigued by the artwork. I do not have the book. Can anyone answer these questions for me:

1.) What is the treasure or prize?
2.) How many treasures are there?
    3.) Have any been found?
4.) Are the clues in the text or the illustrations, or both?
5.) When was this hunt started?
6.) Is there any proof that the hunt is still on?
7.) Are the treasures in the USA, or some place else?
8.) Is the book still available for purchase?

I would appreciate it if anyone could help and answer my questions. Thanks.

beth, i'd be happy to answer these questions.
however, this forum really doesn't cover the secret the way the Quest for Treasure forum does.

please stop over there, at http://www.quest4treasure.co.uk/publ...cret/index.htm for information. You'll have to register, but it's free.

    For now, though:

    1. a casque, that has no real value, possibly a gem, which would be worth about $800.
    2. 12
    3. 2
    4. you must match a verse to an illustration. the two combined will get you what you need to find it. maybe...
    5. 1982
    6. the casques are still buried. if you find one it's yours. there is no way to know if you can collect the gems until you find the casque.
    7. 11 are in the USA, one is in Canada
    8. you can sometimes find it on ebay or abes books. you have to look around.

Thank you for answering my questions wilhouse! And I will go check out the quest4treasure site. I may even look for the book on ebay. With my luck, this will be the only treasure hunt I ever solve, travel 300 miles to find it, and the casque will be empty! But I will have a book with a lot of nice illustrations.

beth, the casque may be empty, they tend to decompose, but there's no treasure in it, so it doesnt matter.

inside the casque was/is a "key" which opens nothing, but signifies the gem that's in a safe deposit box in new york, which could be opened only by Byron Preiss, who has passed away.

you make it sound so bleak Wilhouse hehehe. Still not sure if Sir Egg ever got his jewel but I can bet he didnt think finding a decomposing casque containing a broken key was a letdown by any stretch of the imagination.

Welcome to The Secret beth. Hmmm....just what is so secret about beth anyways You know what I mean.

Is it that that is Regulus' other middle name??

Beth- welcome and have fun. don't forget to get a used copy
of the book off of amazon or such vendors.

Also, keep in mind that since this started twenty-five years ago,
the casques maybe buried in the same ground, but the ground may
    have moved....

So you are saying that if you find a key to a safety deposit box you can't claim the reward?

What we are saying is that the 'key' is a
symbolic key to the safety deposit box...

The author has died betweeb the last casquue find
and today. We do not have any firm knowledge
what the estate is going to do when presented with
    another find.

The best thing to do is wait and see.

The real goal of this now is to unearth as many as
possible to achieve closure to Mr. Priess work.

the key that is in the casque is not the key that opens the safe deposit box.

it doesn't open anything. but in the original hunt, if you presented it, it had a color code that told Preiss which gem you get. you would trade that key for the gem.
