I have been on Q4T for a few weeks now because of "The Whistle Pig". There is a forum here on Tweleve for TWP, but there are many more posts

I don't know if you both use the feature "latest messages" or "recent unread topics," but both features save you wading through anything that you don't want to read.
On the Q4T forum, which I actually prefer to any other, it is extremely easy to find any messages that you haven't read: you simply hit the "unread messages since last visit" link at the top right from the home page and it brings up anything new in all forums and topics. Then you read what you want. In tweleve it's at the top right of the screen when you are on the Index page--I find that a bit more cumbersome. You have to get past the home page first. In Dar it's "latest topics" that's more useful, instead of "Latest messages." Latest messages brings up the messages themselves, whether or notyou want to read through them, in order of last posted. Latest topics just brings up the topics with a yellow "sun" icon next to them so you can pick and choose those you want to read. That's about the only feature of that forum that IS useful--it's a horrible format overall. No forum format is perfect, but the tweleve one and the Q4T ones are better than any others I've seen on the web. Fusetalk, (Dar) just SUCKS. You can't post pics, you can't receive or send more than 50 pms or your mailbox gets full and it just trashes your pms..but I'm preaching to the choir here, I think...you all know how bad it is. Anyway, to sum: of all three, I like Q4T best. Tweleve second. Dar not at all. ck

Pardon me for diggin up an old thread, but this hunt has not had a lot of activity here lately.
I'm just getting started in The Secret. I like it here on Tweleve, mainly due to the connections I have made. I'm still getting used to the new 3.0 format. (Or, what I like the call the 'ludes forum.) I joined Q4T, but have not posted yet. I don't like the fact that they have threads that go on for dozens of pages over 4 or 5 years. How the heck are you supposed to approach that? -Rusty

to the dynamics of trying to solve them) Pointing out where to find old discussions helps to bring everyone up to the same point. Also, Q4T tries to restrict the developing new threads on similar topics as this dilutes effort. The secret is special as there were twelve sperate interwoven hunts occuring simultaneously. Buy the book and get its flavor before jumping onto the boards - would be my suggestion. There is nothing more valuable than source material!! |

Rusty: it's pretty essential that you do read through some of the threads for the Secret before posting. There are a lot of ideas that just get repeated and repeated if you don't. It takes some time, but it's worth the read; also, a lot of ideas that were brought up earlier are forgotten in recent postings.
It will give you a good idea too of how to approach a pairing or an image or verse. I would also buy the book--you'll probably have to search used bookstores or get it used--because there is some material that has been important to fixing locations that is not in the verses or images.

It's neat to see a hunt concieved before the internet was around, however, that may be a hinderance now as many landmarks have changed. I keep The Secret around so if I ever travel again I can stop in and trace the landmarks. Been to the Milwaukee site, and unfortunately, if he used trees as landmarks, the casque may be impossible to find now. I would love to have one of those casques as it would be great trophy to display on your mantle.
Oh, and yes, I'm on Q4T, but mainly just to follow along. Tried to start some Dar discussions but nothing ever came of it. |

When I asked how are you supposed to approach that, I was being rhetorical.
IMO, a 4-year old thread with a bizillion posts is not user-friendly.

And I don't care how 'user friendly' it is, if you want the best overview of the ideas that have been proposed for The Secret, you absolutely must read the past posts. There aren't that many, and it would be a courtesy to the other people not to ask the same questions that have been asked a "bazillion" times before.
