No question is a stupid question if you don't
know the answer. Stupid is not asking.

The link didn't work for me. Do I have to register with DVP?

Like the Domino Effect in the first chapter, the Compass Puzzle is one of the trickier challenges you will face. This puzzle
is not intended to be quick to crack, so dont worry if you struggled.
The place to start is with the text at the bottom on the orange border. The blue letters spell out your first instruction:
delete red tiles first. This refers to the coloured tiles, which each bear a letter and a number. The other letters on the
bottom edge may at first appear to be nonsense or in code, but closer examination will reveal that the message is backwards.

This tells you: remove multiples of six. This leaves nine tiles, spelling UHARSIPEL.
The orange border at the top also contains two different-coloured sequences of letters. The red letters again read
backwards: ascending parallels. Parallel is a word sometimes used for a line of latitude and this connects with the list of
cities in the bottom left of the picture. Each city has two numbers
next to it. The first is its latitude, the second its longitude. The instruction tells you that parallels must be ascending,
so place the cities in order of latitude, with the southernmost, Kinshasa, first and writing the longitudes down as well.
The remaining letters along the top edge again could be nonsense or could be in code, but they do not appear to spell out any
thing either forwards or backwards. You may notice that some of the letters are in italics. The S is perhaps less obvious
than the others but the letters in italics are N, E, S and W: the four points of the compass. You may also notice that there
are exactly five letters between each of the italics. It is this sequence of letters that forms the basis to unlocking this
puzzle. The letters must be written around the compass so that N, E, S and W fall on their own compass points and the other
letters fall between them at 15 intervals. Each of these letters will now have its own compass bearing. N is 000, the next
letter in sequence, Q, is 015, D is 030, and so on.
You now have a code that can convert compass bearings into letters. All that is needed now is to find the message that uses
this code, and this is where the longitudes come in. Each longitude is a number from 0 to 180, either positive or negative
depending on whether the longitude is east or west. However there are 360 on a compass and all numbers are positive. It is

at this stage that you should use the note tucked into the passport telling you to add 180. Applying this to the longitudes
    gives, in order starting with Kinshasa, 195, 225, 285, 090, 315, 090, 075, 180, 210. Now use the compass-bearing-to-
letter conversion to reveal the message five least.
Of the nine remaining coloured tiles, taking the five with the lowest numbers will spell out Uriel. Uriel was an angel who
remained loyal to God. He is often regarded as one of the seraphim, but is sometimes also listed as one of the cherubim.

Thanks cw. I see it now.

    Linden,
Looks like quite a complex solution to a puzzle that included a sequence of instructions. Too bad we don't have any instructions except for "swirl & coalesce".

    Hello,

I was just wondering how Uriel fits into this puzzle. He is the solution to the compass puzzle, and it appears he rules over many things including alchemy.
Also, according to this article "he also holds out the key to entry, the application of Unconditional Forgiveness." Archangel Uriel - Channelings, Articles and more on Spirit Library

It also appears he presides over one quarter of the globe. JewishEncyclopedia.com - URIEL:

Next, how about the other archangels: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Obviously Michael is involved, how about the others?

    Let me know your thoughts.

In the quote from cw above, UHARSIPEL is mentioned. This can be anagrammed to LEPUS IS HARE if you repeat the E, and one might because it's "E'sy". (Um, I have to admit I'm renowned and feared within my family for bad puns.) Anyway, the extra E can simply be supplied phonetically, no problem at all for trovers. So, could this constellation be involved here in some way? I have no idea, since I've never worked seriously on Dar.
