Default DAR According to Mister_Gizmo Part 7

I realize that a lot of people feel this contest was over a long time ago and only a fool would keep working on it, but I felt a long time ago that I was on the right track, and had a shot at solving it. You guys will never know how badly I needed this money, that’s what motivated me to continue. Late last year, a thread was posted on this forum, where MS stated that the he still had the rings, he still had the solution, and the path to redeeming a ring was still open. I felt I still had a shot so I continued, but I was still missing some things at that point, and didn’t have that part of the puzzle figured out until just recently. It’s still six months from the end date of this contest, and there’s never been an official announcement that the contest is over. But it is. Did I really solve this thing? Well, I guess I’ll never know considering that the path I followed to redeem a ring leads to a dead end. I win absolutely nothing. Am I a fool for pursuing this thing? Probably, but I had to take that shot.

Everything I’ve described in my recent posts makes perfect sense to me. Could it have been solved by a child, absolutely not, but then I don’t think that statement was ever made about this contest, although it was made about the original Treasure Trove. MS made the first puzzle too easy, and it was partially cracked by a computer program that was posted. I think he was determined to not let that happen a second time. Was this thing difficult, absolutely. However, there was a natural progression through it. I followed that path.

The page 2 and 5 strings are the key to the whole thing. You may not like what those strings of symbols have to say, in the end, and find them laughable, but at least they say something that makes sense, it’s not some nonsensical statement full of spelling errors. He gave us the answer to the Reflection clue right in the center of the thing. Without it, I never would’ve been able to solve this thing. It was a teaching tool as were those two strings of symbols on page 6. Those variable value symbols look complicated, and they are, but if you take a close look at the HCB, you’ll see that there are only a handful of them on any given line, so they don’t put up much of a roadblock.

After I got to the point where part 6 ended, and had figured out how to calculate a numerical value for most of the symbols, it still left me with figuring out what the HCB has to say. There were no clues, and you can actually make words out of all of those lines of symbols. What are the right words though? My only requirement, was that it had to make sense from one line to the next. I struggled with this for months. I could make a word out of a line, but the next line didn’t fit. In the end, I found that it’s repetitive in nature, and not too hard to figure out. Once I figured out the general theme of the HCB, I started deciphering lines. My goal was to decipher all of the lines that I could easily do, then redo the ones that I felt I had a questionable answer to and take on the ones that I’d had trouble with. I had about sixty lines done when I heard the rings were for sale. I now see no point in continuing.

The lines are read just like the page 2 & 5 lines. Now that we know how to calculate a value for each symbol, we can write the reduced single digit value above each symbol. Then going from both ends at the same time, add symbol values together matching the value you’ve come up with at the other end. Do this until you reach the center. Then try to deduce the answer to the line. If you can’t come up with a real word or phrase, you need to start over. The variable value symbols can be tricky, but they’re limited in number, so the lines are not impossible to decipher. I’ve included a few lines to give you a general idea of what you’ve been searching for.

It goes like this......................

The End.

Good Luck

Mr. Gizmo, I'm still confused about the flow of the solution. After decoding the HCB, which I assume is giving generic redemption instructions, are there still five unique puzzles that have to be solved, one for each ring type? Which one did you solve and what ring did it say you earned?

i thought i would try out/ use, what mr gizmo had posted b4
he posted part #7
the img is what i have done, so far on line #1 of pg 16,
i did this b4 part #7 was posted
i find the, , cross symbols,i think he called them
very confusing, so i did not do there values, in the img
from part7 i see they do not appear, to work like the minie base sheet
i thought he was on the solve, till i started looking at it,
and trying to use, his methods
i found, trying to see how the alpha grid, would work with
the values i had so far, and found that confusing also,
once i really looked at it

So what does it SAY???

I have no intention of using your method to decode anything--I simply don't have that sort of time on my hands NOR the inclination to slog through it all.

Why not just post it?

hello Mr Gizmo,
i remember your solution approach from way back - i think you posted me about the Reflection clue - as i said then and I'll say again, your method is completely arbitrary, you're casting out stuff until a letter which makes sense comes along.

still, i really admire your spreadsheets and detailed approach - i'm kind of amazed that such logicality can lead in such wrong directions.

good luck.

I have to say I think I agree with T.I.M. here...when I saw the Solis/Lunar to Light/Dark transition, I thought you were on to something, but now that I see how you are just stringing numbers and casting out until you get what you want, I say this can't possibly be the solution. Think about it, it's like taking a line of text out of the newspaper and spelling a word by crossing out letters you don't like and keeping the ones that you do. As long as the line of text is long enough, you can spell whatever you want...totally random.

Default goodbye and thanks for all the fishtanks

first I want to say check out "cuentos asombrosos mirror mirror" on youtube for those who want to see the golden horse from the Treasure puzzle in virtual reality. It comes in at the end of the intro just before the words "Amazing Stories" appears on the screen. The other thing, in regards to the Dar puzzle, it's called a no-brainer. If the prizes are being sold, dear God, the damned thing is over, kaput, fini. If you really have any idea Mister Gizmo what the solution is spill the beans. There's no prize now. It's called a no-brainer. Comprende, hombre.

Mr. Gizmo, Did you ever hear back from the e-mails asking about the contest being over? Didn't you e-mail them and tell that you tried to redeem a ring and that the way to do it was not active?
