1. An Idea, Please Someone Try

Hey everyone, I had this idea a couple weeks ago, but I don't have the book anymore to try it. It involves the symbol strings in the beginning of the Book of Spells, and the filled letters throughout.

Can some people try this and see what they come up with?

Each symbol corresponds to a filled letter in the BoS.
The symbols indicate whether to shift that particular letter up or down a specific number of letters, equivalent to the number of points each symbol has.

ie:
filled letter O with an upward facing drop represents letter P. (O+1=P
filled letter D with a downward facing triangle represents Letter A. (D-3=A)

Hopefully this helps. Could be a variation of this as well

2. the first question I would ask is this.

How many unique geometric symbols are there?

Because if I remember correctly there are 10 types of filled letters.

if there are more or less geometerics, could you still make it work, or would it be a forced type of solve?

just thinking out loud, I never even made an attempt at the geometrics because I honestly believe them to be a visual puzzle as shown in one of the secondary books, 101 NEW puzzles CLUES maps blah blah blah,,,

how funny now that I go back and look at that book again.. the words CLUES and REAL are much bigger than the other words.. and the images are rather fun..

Compass
Key
Bag of Loot \$
Treasure Chest

So many things.. solved or not, this has been a MIND TRIP...

The word REAL, more than a few times I found clues the point to movies, and not until now has the word REAL ever sparked, as in REEL, my imagination... anyway, I got off on a tangent. sorry

Mark,

I tried this way back when. I tried counting letters forward, backward,up down-you name it. I never got anything tangible. I thought it would make perfect sense to correspond the number of vertices with a letter count from the filled letters in one direction or another. I also changed the direction of which letters I took to correspond with the way the symbols were orientated. I got nothing! However,I did NOT try to count one symbol forward and the next backward-back and forth like that.-not sure that I have the motivation-or time to try it now though.

4. since most symbols are symmetric, looking at them forward and back would be the same.

No, I meant taking the first symbol (upside down triangle) and counting 3 spaces forward from the first filled letter-which would give the letter E. Then the next symbol (vertical rectangle) and count 4 spaces "backwards" from the next filled symbol which would give us the letter "T"...and so on and so forth. Forward, backward, forward etc.

For what it's worth, in light of MS's newest clues, I think that the teardrop symbol strings and the filled letters are simply telling us to look at pages 103 and 104-as Zac tells us what to do. I don't think they are puzzles themselves at all.
