    Default Step 2

Page 6 talks about the sygygies. The dark font under each eclipse type is laid out just like we laid out our eclipses. 3 lines of varying length stacked on top of each other, each aligned a little differently. Assuming that what we have done so far is correct, according to this page, only now can we cast the powerful eclipse spells.

I have looked at the eclipse spells ad-nauseum. There didn't appear to be anything really "actionable." I finally had a breakthrough when looking back through the actual book and looking at the pictures. A picture of each eclipse spell is found in the book. In some cases, multiple times. I am just concerned about the first instance, and the nearest picture:

    Open fairies dark:
    Page 21, picture on 20

    Grow/Mold:
    Page 55. Picture on 58

    Life/Death:
    Page 79, picture on 80

Let's look at some key information for each spell:

    Mold:
Distance of spell effect: to the EDGES of the Earth.
I think this is very significant in that it suggests the spell is tied to EDGES, specifically, the number of edges on our shape symbols.
Page 58 picture: Much has been said about this picture. It is obviously tied to this spell based on the theme of the picture. The key is in the corners. Each corner has 23 berries, and there are 32 hashes arranged in a circle. There are 6 hashes in each circle. Each number is very significant. There are 23 hexagons. If I were to remove those hexagons from our eclipse lines, it leaves us with 64 symbols in each eclipse. Assuming we pair them together, it would give us 32 pairs per eclipse. I don't know what to make of the berries at the bottom.

Therefore, the mold eclipse spell is an instruction to remove the hexagons.

    Open Fairies dark:
Purpose: Bidden fairies homeward, to THEIR PROPER PLACE
    Time to reorganize YET AGAIN.
The maze: I don't think the maze was meant to be solved. Instead, it is meant to suggest the idea of going in a circular direction.
    Page 20:
Again, looking at the top corners, something interesting sticks out. Swirls. There are 4 swirls, (including each 9). Two are clockwise swirls, two are counterclockwise swirls (thinking of a Seinfeld episode, but I digress). There are also 2 clockwise and two counterclockwise swirls on pages 1,3, and 5 of the BOS. The circle around this eclipse spell is made up of a celtic knot which might be the linking hint there, or those could just be standalone hints.

Therefore, we re-order each eclipse by "swirling" through them. I haven't written this out, but using the 4 eclipses image I posted in another thread, start with the farthest left symbol and draw a looping circle that passes through the furthest right symbol, loop it down and pass the line through the second left most symbol and keep repeating this until you are in the center. For two of these eclipses, you go clockwise. For the other two, you go counterclockwise. Looking at the swirl on page 3, it is a counter-clockwise swirl, and if you look at the background, it is sitting on a moon. If you look at the bottom swirl on page 5, it is clockwise, and the background behind it is a sun. So.....Solar eclipses are clockwise, lunar eclipses are counterclockwise.

    Life/Death:
Distance of Spell effect: To the EDGES of the Earth.
Again, the edges come into play here.
Spell kill good fairies, get fairy ring - I take that as meaning this - two things go away and are replaced by a single thing. That combined with the edges line makes me think this is the spell that converts the symbols into letters.
    Page 80:
There is so much going on here that I have yet to figure it out. The morse code (A good beginninw makes a good ending) was found early on. But the way those flower/leaf symbols are aligned, it looks like they are paired up on either side of the silver symbols. The silver symbols I think are very critical to understanding this eclipse spell, but I haven't figured it out yet. The green dots I believe are hugely significant. The best that I have found so far is that if you wanted to draw a line across the circle(from triangle to triange) and divide it into 2 equal sized half-circles, where there were 4 green dots in both halves, there are only two places you can draw those lines. (Starting at the top and going clockwise) between triangles 2 and 10, and between 4 and 12. I think there is something to this because if you look at the bottom right part of that eclipse page, it has circles with lines dissecting them.

Anyway, this last spell is where I am stuck. I feel very good about the other two, but this one is frustrating me. I would love some ideas.

im glad im not the only one who looked at the blaine puzzle.
as for the teardrop code, pgs 2 and 5 bos, i always thought
the hex was a break or to be ignored too.
i played with the order of them, from the lack of symbols
in each line to see, if something was there see jpg,
ill go back over it the wkd and see if it makes
a diff, in alignment for the light spell effect
i hope i said that right

i used this to order the lines of symbols
    missing 1 symbol
    missing 2 symbols
    missing 3 symbols

even after looking at this and other stuff, no apparent alpha, in grid, wheel,
morse, what ever seems to show its self, frustrating
unless we are suppose to transpose it someplace else in book

I've worked on the teardrops quite a bit, and i'm convinced that it is page two that is the one that is upside down, and not page five.

The problem that i'm having right now is that the letter frequencies dont work out after i make the circle with them.

It's leading me to the conclusion that there are two different 5x5's involved, or more likely the same 5x5 but upside down.

I just need some more free time to go back over my notes.

    CW,

Couldn't agree more. The decoding mechanism has definitely been the challenge. I do not think that we would use the same 5x5 grid that ATT used. There is nothing to suggest that. The best guess that I see would be be an xy grid where we would plot coordinates.

If that were the case, I am wrong about orientation only being used to align the symbols. Orientation would be a huge factor in decoding the symbols. In order for these symbols to be coordinate points, then one symbol would have to represent the axis (in other words, it could only have one orientation). The most logical symbol would be the pentagon as its orientation is consistent within each symbol string. (It does mean however, that they are upside down on page 2).

Here is the evidence I see for the xy grid:
    The chant spells:
The pictures include the letters xy. The show lines being drawn, and they show shapes that are gridded (It almost seems obvious when you think about it).
Page 40: The picture of Zac in the workshop shows a window with what looks to be an xy axis in the center. The top of the picture shows a forward and backward 5.
Page 80: The picture of Zac and Ana. Those silver symbols look like a bird with 4 jewels in each wing, and one in the head. Again, this would suggest the idea of a 4x4 xy grid. I also think the idea of drawing lines between the triangles on the page to divide the green dots on either side is part of that as well.
Life/Death fairie spell - The circles with the lines through them, with the letter L.

Since there is no obvious symbol to letter translation provided here, it might be that we simply are drawing letters using a set of coordinates. This could provide a purpose for the hexagons in that it provides an offset for the number of grid points per letter. I don't care too much for that idea because the way we have things divided up now, we will have 32 symbol pairs per eclipse minus the hexagons, which works too well with what I think will be a final solution of a 32 point wheel.

    Here is my best guess:
We are going to use two sets of coordinate points to draw a line on a 9x9 grid (-4 trough +4). This grid is going to be located on the inside of the eclipse spells. These lines will create arrows that will point to letters around the eclipse spells and that is how we build our code for infinity. The picture of the window on page 40 really seems to really indicate an xy grid in a circle. I can't think of another way to execute that.

    hey Snickers,

word play is a funny thing.

That said. EARTH in and of itself is a SPHERE and would have no defined edges.. the word EARTH could be contrued to have edges..

    E and H or 5 and 8

using Mike's idea of a type of Syzygy like Zac uses for the Light Spell.

Perhaps all the spells where the distance is To the EDGES of the EARTH are meant to be used with page 58.

Thus would tend to be more simplistic (child like) then a more complex add and subtract solution.

I have not tried this of course. I am just adding my thoughts.

I think there is precedent for translating the E and H in Earth to 5 8

In the morse code, there are two blatant mispellings

    Well begun is HAFF done
A good BEGINNINW makes a good ending

    F=6
    W=23

There are 23 hexagons. What was considered by most to be mispellings are actually, in my opinion, a clue. One man's junk.....

Even though I am still no where near a solution, I am becoming more and more aware that the story itself has a large number of hints, and without carefully reading, it is not possible to solve.

The latest case of this? Page 88 in the book. Without quoting exactly, both Yorah and Ana are reciting eclipse spells simultaneously. The book references the lines "I command you" and "I command you all".

I thought, ok, I want to align the eclipse spells up. They are all different sizes, so it stands to reason we were supposed to do this. I made a copy of the pages, and cut out the circles, and I aligned the words "I command you" together. I noticed on the other side of the circle, the word NOW was also aligned. The word NOW appears twice in the life/death spell on exact opposite sides. If you look at the I in "I command you, you notice it lines up with the I in It. If you rotate it to line the Now's up with the other now, if lines up perfectly with the L in Life. This whole process is creating an eclipse, and the alignment process is similar in practice to the shape symbols. And like the shape symbols, these patterns seem unlikely to be random, but don't get us anywhere. Thought the collective group might have some ideas.

    hey Snickers,

thi shas been done with what might be construed as seriously mixed results.

But here agin, seeing you post it up makes be think...

    I COMMAND YOU (U)

    I COMMAND YOU (U) ALL

Based on Mike most resent clues. We at least have some level of real direction that the Story Text contains clues, if not puzzles.

but as you know, they both recite (RE-SITE) the spells, or could it be RE-SIGHT? as in seeing them in a NEW LIGHT?

I keep going back to the same old thing,,, and perhaps next time Lord chats with Mike he could ask this simple question:

How do we determine WHERE TO START????

This has bothered me from day one... No known starting point.

Other than.. "A good beginninw makes a good ending"

I continue to look at DAR pretty much everyday. And will continue, but finding HOW and WHERE to actually begin, would be IMHO the first thing that needs to be found before moving on.

DAR is like a jigsaw puzzle, except all the pieces are invisible, and scattered across the night sky and the person tasked with putting it together is blind.

Can anyone tell me how many filled in letters there are in the book of spells?
