    Smile DAR Solutions Offer

    Hi everybody,

I've been away from treasure hunting for quite some time. I do believe the way this hunt was handled was beyond disappointing and I'm glad that there are other more reputable hunts to be a part of here.

I also believe it's fair for everyone who worked so hard on DAR to get the solutions and it doesn't look like any will be forthcoming from the creator or the publishers. No surprises there.

If there is enough interest to make it worthwhile (?), I will be glad to post my solutions.

The best and easiest way I can think to do this would be to post photographs of each puzzle with the solutions noted, which includes photocopies of parts of the illustrations from the book. It's more easily understood visually. Not sure if there is copyright issues if I do it this way.

It's really up to you guys and whether there is alot of interest still. I do not have my own webpage and I'm not on facebook, etc. I don't have anywhere else to post this stuff. I also don't want to make this a big project, as I am a bit bummed about this hunt myself and still a forum rookie. But with members interest, the ok to post photos and technical help/instruction from the moderators/members of the proper and courteous way to do this (ie. spoilers, photo sizes?), I am happy to share what I have so far and answer questions. A step-by-step on how to do this would be great.

In return, I would also be very glad if anyone were to take up where I got stuck and solve the next step.

What do you all think, yay or nay?

YAY! i worked so hard on this one too i just want to know the solution to see if i had come remotely close.

my main idea was that most of the code in the HCB was garbage, and that you had to place the Summon spell on top of the HCB.

You aligning the full moons (black filled in circles or maybe the open circles) with the corrsponding ones hidden in the HCB and the symbols will swirl together to produce a block of text.

i could never get this to work however.

    Yaess. TY OAO
Infinity = no boundaries. No boundaries = Chaos Theory. Theres no upper or lower limits to electro-magnetic spectrum. All energy waves go infinitely small to infinitely large the same as Pi goes on forever. To say the Universe has a beginning or an end is to create a boundary. Scientific Theory has always been evolving and continuously corrected to think the theory of your time is the correct one is to be as fanatical as all the religious fanatics of every world religion. Base 16 Cipher for Pi.

    Default water

I think water music by Handel is pertinent. The HCB just translates by counting light and dark objects between vertical lines. Words come up like Albany, Zac, pook, daze. but most of it is just gibberish. Another thing I tried a long time ago in the last section was alternating letters to find messages. This is where I came up with "MD sees period". How it works( take "the man is right"= t,n,i,t and e,m,s,r) first letter last letter first letter last letter. I no longer have a copy of the book but I found hidden messages this way. all over the book actually. Try it you will like it.

I haven't looked at this in a while, and I did a terrible job in trying to explain this solution. I'm fairly internet-illiterate, and I don't know how to place illustrations into posts, and a picture is worth a thousand words.

The decoding mechanism consists of three interlocking wheels.

As in 'A Treasure's Trove', the author placed a blank, generic example of the decoding mechanism within his illustrations. It's the window in the bedroom and the workshop. It's a big circle with a '+' in its middle.

    Guys, it's a blank compass.

The method to label his compass is found in the back of the spell book: north at the top, south at the bottom, and east and west are reversed.

Let's say we have a second blank wheel, and this time we're going to place positive and negative at its four points. We'll use our regular coordinate grid associations such that north = positive, south = negative, east = positive, and west = negative. Using our template from the spell book, we would have '+' at the top, '-' at the bottom, '+' on the left and '-' on the right.

Now, let's draw a third blank wheel. This time, we're going to place UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT on its four points. Using the original template in the back of the spell book: North = UP = top of wheel, South = DOWN = bottom of wheel, East = RIGHT = left of wheel, and West = LEFT = right of wheel.

As you can see, these three wheels are the same compass--they're just labelled differently.

I need to be able to show this as illustrations--place the three wheels side-by-side. Place the +/- wheel on the left, the up/down/left/right wheel in the middle, and the NSEW wheel on the right.

Does this make sense thus far? Can somebody draw this for me and place it here or tell me how to do it?

    Thanks.
