The Code reads "THE ALCHEMIST DAR". But I can't exactly get the method worked out just yet. Look at the shaded symbols as dividers. Each line has 3, 9, and 3 shaded symbols, respectively (same numbers as THE ALCHEMIST DAR has letters). If you divide the lines up where the shaded symbols are, the letters that appear more than once (T, H, E, and A) are remarkably similar.

Gonna look at it a little more tonight, I'll try going into chat.

Ok, looks like the blacked in symbols seperate letters. So there is a small black crescent at the bottom left and no black symbol at the top right. So, the black symbols seem to start (or end) a new letter (depending on direction).

Then what do the symbols mean?

For the record, I've been sucked back into this, but I'm still worried that this is not really a clue from the author, just a cleverly constructed joke.

Ok so none of the images I posted stayed So I am going to try again.

This would be the mirror image or it could be the light spell image as you look through the clue from the back

And this would be my representation of the base 5 code as you can see there are 10 in first row 25 in second and 10 in last row.

    I hope these images work.

Oh and I played with the fact that there are like symbols in different rows for hours last night.

    AnotherDoth,

I really have other things on my agenda than to create a joke and I am not that cleaver.

I understand your concern, when Mike contacted me my books had 5 yrs of dust on them in a box, now they are back in my living room. I have been drawn back in just as you and I told Mike last night I have had a headache for 2 days now :-/.

Mike contacted me when he was interested in releasing clues and as a friend I said I would.

You are receiving the clues exactly as I receive them from Mike.

I hope that helps clear some doubt.

    Take care,

    Kevin

One last thing I wanted to point out that just stuck with me after I saw it.
The single small open circle that is centered in different places. I thought that this may be a word brake as well. At 4 in the first line, 13 in the second line and 3 in the third line.

    ex.

    qwe cdjgty
    wyrgstfrgthy yhtgrftsgryw
    qw egdkytg

just gibberish but I think it gets my idea of word brakes across

    Mark,

Can you elaborate in more detail how to came to see THE ALCHEMIST DAR. You have my interest. It tends to make sense a first clue out would elude to the book and not be too difficult. Alas, I can not see it though.

Would you mind shedding a Light spell and illuminating my path for me ?

I haven't been able to make it work completely yet. What I've been tinkering with is the idea that the shaded symbols are the letter breaks. If you break up symbols in this way, the 2 sets of symbols that correspond to the E's, A's, T's, and H's (especially E's) in "THE ALCHEMIST DAR" are strikingly similar. This leads me to believe that maybe the order of the symbols does not matter.

Again, I haven't gotten anything 100% solid with this yet.

The clue says to swirl and coalesce, and I think we have covered that by mirroring the image to left justify it.
Now we need to combine the symbols somehow to form anew.
I cann't get morse code or binary to work on it as it is now.

No question is a stupid question if you don't
know the answer. Stupid is not asking.

As I read it, there are two theories. Theory one is one english letter per hest symbol (i.e. Letter theory). It looks like Digitizer is suggesting the letter theory. Theory two is multiple hest symbols per English letter (i.e. Group theory). Mark suggested Group Theory.

Digitizer's image shows Letter Theory well.

In group theory, the blacked in Hest symbols break up groups. For example one row 1, Hest symbols 1,5 and 8 are blacked in. This give three groups of Hest symbols, which means three English letters on row 1.

So, the next question for group theory is what direction? If you go left to right, do you count the blacked in symbol as a part of the English letter group?

P.S. Kevin, thanks for responding to my concerns. I guess we have to just move forward until either you are proven right or proven to be a hoax. It still doesn't seem logical to me that Mike Stadther would choose to continue the hunt with no prize through a semi-anonymous forum. It doesn't pass the sniff test.
