If you re-read that portion of the rules, you'll notice that he provided a way to replace a token if it was lost - not a tree.

He created a puzzle that points to a specific tree. If he were to replace the token, where would he put it? In another tree? He'd surely hear the complaints then. Can you imagine how many people would cry "foul" if he did that? Even if he did place a new token in the closest tree possible, can you imagine the scandal of two tokens showing up?

I think he did the best thing possible given the circumstances.

umm... of course he couldn't replace the tree. I don't think I need the rules to tell me that. But he certainly could have invalidated the token publicly.

That being said, there may not have been a specific tree illustration for this token. Nothing certainly jumps out as the "correct" tree. As the unofficial archiver of the trees, I think I'm a reasonable authority to make that statement.

I can honestly say that not a single person would have cried "foul" if the Pook token were put in a different tree at the campsite 51. In fact, I don't think anyone would have noticed. I think whoever went there to look would have checked every tree with a reasonably knothole. And since MS would have just replaced it freshly, it most likely wouldn't be covered in dirt, fallen off a rusted nail into a pit, etc.

Steve, I believe your hard work warrants an "Official" status. I hereby decree you Official Archiver of the Trees. (OAT) Please do not abuse your authority... with power comes responsibility.

Does anyone besides me think it could be possible that Stadther never placed Pook in a tree to begin with?

You know, I have been busy with my real life since I learned that Pook was found, but to hear this story... or parts of it, cuz I don't think I've heard the whole thing... is amazing to me.

I went to Newaygo and searched 51. I thought it might be possible that the tree it was in was cut down...but didn't think it likely. It's a shame if that is what happend, but in my estimation, se la vie. It would have been nice if Stadther had either made people aware of it or move it, but its probable that he didnt know it was cut down.

In any case, I've moved on. I would still like to know the details of this story however, just for closure's sake. But I'm on to other hunts.

Des- Please let me know when your hunt is going to start. Till then, I'm working Dillon Waugh's Menagerie and waiting to hear if Marantha is worth the investment.

    Onwards.
What is the sound of one hand clapping?
