Ditto on spiderman's mention of Destructo and the other mods handling this all behind-the-scenes-til-now stuff (and God knows what else is lurking back there!). Thanks to all of you. This is such a huge disappointment for me, and I feel guilty chastising Destructo for being so negative when my glass is usually half-full. So sorry.

simpleme, excellent point to bring up the big announcement made about the 2" move of Dragonfly.

spiderman, taking into consideration the 2" move announcement of Dragonfly, and your comments about Stadther & attorneys not wanting to talk about Pook to affect the rest of the additional token(s)... Pook was announced officially as existing on February 18, 2005, per ATT's site. What would they have been giving away by announcing it had to be moved? THEY had already announced a 13th token! Did they just let it go on for so long that they couldn't stop the avalanche?

Bass, I went back to your site today to see who took the pictures dated 7/28. Now see jurzey's pics as well as the interesting mention that you're not sure where you got the 7/28-dated photos from. (Perhaps that was there yesterday and I missed it.) It will be interesting to find out who the boy is in some of those photos.

Best thing for Stadther to do now is to add more tokens to be found with additional web clues to make trovers feel better AND admit guilt and ignorance and beg for forgiveness. Oh, wait, he already did the first, and the attorneys would never allow the second. Silly me.

"Honesty is the best policy." "Do the right thing." "It's never too late to say you're sorry." "The truth will set you free." All these and more come to mind, as if I were directing them to a child who reads...um...picture books. Now, where is the Pepto-Bismol when I need it...

I actually got a response last night as to who posted the pictures that are in the Pook gallery (other than the ones from Jurzeyfresh), but I haven't had a chance to update the site yet. All of the pictures dated 7/28 came from miami459.

I really understand the disappointment of the trovers who had solved the puzzle, traveled hundreds of miles to the Wenaygo campsite, and thoroughly scoured it anc came up tokenless, especially now that we find out that MS apparently knew the tree was missing all that time. I would probably be feeling the same way you do.

But look at this from MS' point of view. He had obviously put a lot of thought into the placing of the Pook token. My own personal guess is that he knew he had to decide, before he put the official rules in his book, what he would do in this very case of a token being accidentally jostled around by natural or human forces. He knew couldn't very well try to help the readers by telling them something like "Please disregard p. so-and-so for the so-and-so token", without giving away too much and tainting the rest of the hunt. After all he put eight years of his life into this. Besides, what about the readers who never go to websites for updates? So he might have thought something like, "Well, if the token is still at the site after it is accidentally jostled, then it will make it that much more interesting to find for the persistent person who will eventually find it."

And that's what happenened--it WAS eventually found by greenprincess and her team. Not that I myself wouldn't be horribly disappointed if I had been one of those who scoured the whole area before they found it. But I wouldn't think MS did anything illegal. In the Rules (#8 on p. 115):

"..tokens may be moved by forces, including human intervention (intentional and unintentional) as well as force majeure events, over which Sponsor has no control. Sponsor disclaims all liability if, due to forces outside its control, a token is moved from its location. Sponsor may or may not,in its discretion, replace a token that has been moved but remains unclaimed with a new token."

Maybe when he found out the tree had been cut down, he gave us a certain amount of time to find it on the site, say 3 months, before announcing a replacement token. Way back in July or August (I forget when) I was reading posts by trovers saying that a lot of trees at Wenaygo were cut down, so I think many of us were aware that Pook's tree was possibly cut down. I bet MS was biding his time to see if some persistent hunter would eventually find it there.

    spiggan-
Don't try to justify MS' actions, or destructo will accuse you of religious zealotry/cultism!

Don't knock cults, they can apply for tax-exempt status!! Even though they're inflated, those jems are worth twice as much if you don't have to share them with Uncle Sam! After dealing with MS's atty's I'm sure you're well prepared to take on the IRS's religion tax exempt department Bass. :c)

    Default Pooky pook

Just finally had time to catch up on reading. I lost interest a bit with all new tokens and surprises. Feel a bit jerked around. How bout telling us how many more and being done with it? And how bout adding new super hard puzzles for the extra jewels. Thanks.

Anyway, I've been thinking about what MS could have done if the Pook token seemed lost -- tree gone, nobody claims the token? Figure he'd have to wait the 30 days from when the tree was definitely down to allow someone to claim it. What if he does put out a replacement token? Are there 2 active tokens now? What if BOTH get found? Guess he could post "go 100 paces east of where the cluse says it was" or something. Maybe that's web clue 3? Still, good chance he'd have to make a second pook...
