When asked, in another thread, if it was possible for the "know" in the first line of the sub-poem to be "now," Lyric wrote:

Contrary to popular belief, I didn not write the sub-poem---MS did. Thus, I would say that anything is open for interpretation. I to have thought that the first sentence is a little strange sounding. 'Now' would, in fact, fit better then 'Know'. However, so far I haven't found anything to tell me that it is not 'Know'. The K keeps coming up.

Lyric, Is it safe to assume that you've changed your position and that the K isn't "coming up" anymore? Or that you've adjusted your findings? You sounded so sure before...

    Default V Cipher???

If you use a V Cipher for The Nomenclature text, you're either going to have to use an extremely long keyword, probably as long as the text itself. This is because with a shorter key word, you are going to screw up the percentages of occurence. This must remain fairly similar to what it is now in order to produce results in English. So Either a really really long Keyword, or the text to decode is within the text, but not the entirety of it. basic cryptography...

Right on the money! I also do not think that we are dealing with a V cipher in the Nomenclature text. That is not the same as the Sub-poem is false. It could have been found elsewhere. Remember, Lyric got bashed so hard that he might have decided to play with us. The sub-poem sounds so authentic that I have a hard time ignoring it. I have said it before, Lyric, you are a star, one way or another!

k0dydraven, speaking of basic crypto, if you use a key as long as the plaintext (i.e. a non-repeating key), you have essentially a one time pad, and that would be unbreakable.

This is great stuff. Please contribute these crypto ideas to this thread also: http://www.tweleve.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1751

Actually, I came up with extra letters. Hence, my error in 'Know"

OK, I can't resist adding my 2p worth (as I'm in the UK).

There is nothing wrong with having this discussion - I don't think it's a waste of time, it is a discussion about solving the puzzles and is perfectly valid. Therefore I disagree with calls to lock this thread, stop contributing etc.

However, although I still hold out in my belief that lyric genuinely thinks he has found something, my view is gaining strength that it will be too tenous to be accepted by others. If this is really based on finding some keys (that cannot have anything to do with ATT, I just can't accept that) and applying what was written on them to the Nomenclature text, which is in (reasonably) plain English, which then gives something with extra letters (and I suspect is even less clear than that), that is all getting too far fetched to be a genuine solution to a puzzle. If I ever see the word 'anagram' in connection with the derivation of the sub-puzzle, then I'll *know* it isn't for real.

Sorry, lyricalash, but I don't think it is part of the road to the solution to any of the puzzles.

so basically, everything you "found" is up for interpretation?
