    Default ....haha

I highly doubt that the government not banning smoking has anything to do with social security. According to this thought process wouldn't goverment officials be completelely contradicting themselves by partaking in drinking and smoking? I'm all for conspiracy theories but that one is just a little out there.

As far as smoking in public places.. I agree with the current legislation that is going around...now a bar is not necessarily a "public" place.. so I can see the argument that owners should be able to decide.. I personally find it disgusting to go to a smoke filled bar.. i feel like sh#t the next day and my clothes wreak. but public places should be smoke free.. i'm not allowed to drive my motorcycle around in the park blowing exhaust in people's faces am I? It's a free country right? ..I also will not eat in a restaurant that people are smoking in.. that is just nasty..bleh.. and dont' get me started on the amount of litter caused by smokers..

and the sub-poem.. well I'm still not sold on it.

This is a great topic to define society into subsets we all fall into, we know what group you are in kstreasurehunter.

Vehicle emissions are everywhere and is a much worse problem, the chemical cocktails they grow food in and those that they add so it is brightly colored, flavorful and long lasting is also a worse problem as well and all are an everyday constant intake.

It would be nice if all the people who show up to care about the tobacco thing got together we could all just eat real food again and be able to smell the cigar through the exhaust. And what about your water?

I find it odd that the smokers have not really come out in the masses that they could and bat all this back down a bit more favorable to their side.

Although I want to be on the side that has a sub-poem, several people out of all of us have hinted to having seen or deciphered it so the odds are not helping.

Just an opinion, I have to go kill my dandelions now, but fear not I will put a little sign up when I am done.

Hey an Eddie Izzard fan, all right!

There is no smoking in California restuarants/bars/casinos, and it is fantastic! I can actually go somewhere without tearing up and coughing from all the smoke.

Sure, it's a free country but "free" means you can do what you want -- as long as you are not harming others. The smoke affects other people. If someone came into a bar with a bullhorn and start yelling, they would be escorted out. They might say "Not fair! It's a free country! I wasn't even talking to those people!" But they polluted the air, nonetheless.

    Just my two cents.

my issue with eating in a restaurant with people smoking is just that..my own issue. The smell of cigarette smoke just turns me off, especially if it is a table next to me with several people smoking. I go out to eat to relax and have a nice meal, and that just makes me uncomfortable..

not sure what you are trying to say about exhaust... my motorcycle gets 65-70 mpg.. of course here in ks it doesn't seem like there are any regulations on emissions.

I liked the bull horn reference.. that made me laugh.. and a bullhorn isn't even effecting others' health.. except possibly their hearing if it was loud enough..

We are ingesting worse crap as we speak but we do not seem to notice except for the smell of smoke on infrequent occasion.

It is a free country but probably more along the lines of: free = if my group is louder then we "make" you do what we want you to do.

We would all hate it if the government banned smoking. First, because government should not be involved, Second, the big tax on a pack of cigs and the income tax from big tobacco companies. Where would the government get that kind of cash to put back in... you and me my friends.

Will you see the day when a prison term is justified for possession of a two finger baggie of tobacco?

Sub-poem seems to have been reduced to "near the overlook there are thirteen"

I'm a smoker, but I always make sure when I light up it isn't offending anyone. I don't smoke in restaurants, or public places and if I'm around others I always ask before I light up, if the smoke will offend anyone.
So it does tick me off when people lump us all together and call me rude for smoking.

Smoking isn't banned because it's bad for your health, it's banned because it's bad for *my* health, and I don't want to smoke your smoke.
When I drink a beer, other people don't have to drink it too.
