Did you know most states have a designated insect and/or butterfly? I may be missing some states - I tried to fully research it but alas, the Internet is a big place.

Karner Blue Butterfly - New Hampshire (NH)

Dragonfly - Washington (WA)

Firefly - Tennessee (TN), Pennsylvania (PA)

Ladybug - New Hampshire (NH), Massachusetts (MA), New York (NY), Ohio (OH), Tennessee (TN)

Honeybee - Arkansas (AK), Georgia (GA), Kansas (KS), Louisiana (LA), Maine (ME), Mississippi (MI), Nebraska (NE), New Jersey (NJ), North Carolina (NC), Oklahoma (OK), South Dakota (SD), Tennessee (TN), Utah (UT), Vermont (VT), Wisconsin (WI)

Rhinoceros Beetle - None (but Indiana might use it)

Grasshopper - None (but Kansas is sometimes known as the Grasshopper State)

Ant - Texas (TX)

Spider - South Carolina (SC)

Snail - Maryland (MD), South Carolina (SC)

Caterpillar - becomes a butterfly and all states have a state butterfly so I am stumped on how to handle this one.

Hummingbird - (not an insect)
