To take any screen shoot you have to press the key "print scrn" in your keyboard, usually it is next to the function keys.
Then open either a text processor or a program for pictures and in a new file paste (ctrl+v) the screen shot. What was in your whole screen when you did the "print screen" will be in that document.

cool, b ut when i press the button, it prints to my printer... how do you make the print print to a file or print indirectly. is there a key like cntl or alt or some other one to capruee the screen?

printing is great to get hard copy, but capturing is how you can modify it in your computer...

Really? For most people, when you press PrtSc, it copies the screen so you can paste it onto Paint or some other image program with Ctrl+V
If it doesn't work for you, I have no idea what's wrong.

I have to hit 'ctrl' and 'Prnt Scrn' to take screen shots. This is how I have to do it on my laptop and desktop.
