Check this site. It has simple descriptions of different kinds of codes and cryptography.

This is my favorite way to break the ceaser cipher. Check out this website. Be warned, though, sometimes it goes down unexpectedly. Someone should get the script and host it somewhere else, i'm thinking.
I caught you a delicious bass.

Thank you for all your help. I think I'm going to go buy a big book explaining a whole bunch of codes so I can get to know some others.

I found a nice one at Barnes and Noble for about $13. It's just huge. Tragically, I can't remember the name of it, and it's packed up in a box quite some distance away.

Simon Singh has a few good books about codes and ciphers.

It is probably the same one I got at the same place for the same prize:

    I recommended this book here:

    http://www.tweleve.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5588

It covers all the basic code techniques of monalphabetic encryption, plus other things and even details of the Enigma machine. What I liked about it is it gives the fistory of each code, an example, and easy to understand descriptions. I am not too far into the book yet, but remember reading about Caesar code yesterday.

Moscow, I have always used that same site that you recommended in your post above, but for some reason, it is no longer available.

Does anyone know of a site where you can input the cipher text, and you can get the results of all possible Caesar shifts on one screen? Of all the sites I have looked over, they all request that you assign the number of the shift. I don't want that---I want to be able to see all the possibilities.

    I would appreciate anyone's help.

If someone wants the html file of that page Moscow was talking about PM me your email address and I will send it to you. I saved it when the website started to go wrong and I have used it even being offline with no problem.
