Do you mean the 'hunter of shadows, himself a shade' thing?

On that note, while it's admittedly a stretch, I did some digging and found out that this too is an indirect Poe reference. Apparently, Poe wrote a critique of the poem "Orion" by R.H. Horne (which can be found here), in which the line (somewhat different than Gecko's version) appears:
These shadows are those of the coming Orion and his game. But who can fail to appreciate the intense beauty of the heralding shadows? Nor is this all. This “Hunter of shadows, he himself a shade,” is made symbolical, or suggestive, throughout the poem, of the speculative character of Orion; and occasionally, of his pursuit of visionary happiness. For example, at page 81, Orion, possessed of Merope, dwells with her in a remote and dense grove of cedars. Instead of directly describing his attained happiness — his perfected bliss — the poet, with an exalted sense of Art, for which we look utterly in vain in any other poem, merely introduces the image of the tamed or subdued shadow-stag, quietly browsing and drinking beneath the cedars.
Now, of course, like all else so far, I really have no idea what to make of this, and can't really decide how (or whether or not) it might be significant. I should also point out that I have neither read all of Poe's commentary on Horne, nor have I read through all of Horne's poem.

Here's what I'm really trying to figure out though. I was looking at the image properties for the index images that have appeared on grngecko.com and tma the other day, and 'noticed that all seem to have the creation date of "26-Dec-11" with a time of "1:11 PM". If anyone else has been obsessively saving the images, is this the case with your files as well? And, if so, what do you make of it? Could it indicate that the changes are part of something planned well in advance, and not necessarily related to our progress on the puzzles?

Funeral, great find on the Poe quote.

Grngecko.com is now showing as "Domain Disabled". I guess everything is now officially switched over to themostabstruse.com.

holy crap, GG is gone for real. What will happen to us, the Tormented?
    Maybe it's all over?
    or maybe
    IT
    HAS
    JUST
    BEGUN...

    ?

but i think that Gecko is gearing up to begin tormenting us all over again. It wouldn't be gentlemanly of him to suddenly leave us hanging, so his silence as he shifts around his pages leads me to suspect he's simply doing some early Spring cleaning... And that a rather large change may be coming.

I suggest you look a little harder. Torment hasn't gone anywhere.

I know that the actual puzzle is still up, if that's what you mean. i was referring to the "disabling" of the grngecko.com homepage- not the actual guy, but i can see how you could take it out of context now that i look at it, and i apologize for the confusion XD

Additionally, how long has the URL to the culling portal puzzle been moved to themostabstruse.com? because the URL to Culling Portal is 'themostabstruse.com/themostabstruse.html', which i just noticed. Even trying grngecko.com/themostabstruse.html redirects you to the same page on TMA.com... so grngecko.com is now totally empty, man-on-a-bike-behind-the-sun and all :V

The changes went live on Feb 15th.

The home page, or at least for me, on themostabstuse.com has also vanished.

I can't remember enough about the original torment puzzle pages to remember this specifically, but it almost might be something. If I'm right in my recall, then I may be able to move forward with this. I was thinking about basically everything on this page (52) of the thread when it caught my eye. What I need everyone to do is to look at the bottom of TMA and confirm whether it is something that should be considered.
Aethera, I found something concerning torment on a Spanish forum... are you related to it?

    TORMENT

I can translate if anyone is interested.

It seems the image of the man with the glasses on top of zodiac code is Bryan Hartnell, survivor of the zodiac killer who was stabbed six times in the back.

Also, on that forum, they have found a new page on themostabstruse.com with a veeery familiar image!

EDIT: the image sslug posted is this forum of the hebrew characters in the original torment puzzle:

    I can't edit again.

Seems the forum I posted before copied the info from this other forum (and they are watching us! ):

themostabstruse.com/elements.html? It looks a bit like a red herring to me at the moment. A little something to keep us occupied while he sets up TMA? I dunno, but it's kinda nice to have a new something to look at anyway XD

also, you can't edit anything more than 15 minutes old, diorama.

i have been working on the elements image,

the font itself is hebrew basic found here (Hebrew Basic - Glyphs « MyFonts)

using these glyphs to provide text we get:

    wGuNdaZLbBZk
    egiYTKlRcazKq

The only glyph i wasnt 100% about is the Y

Obviously from here it could either be:

    a) im completely wrong
    b) this is a red herring and has no answer
    c) There is a cipher applied to the text i have posted above
