I was more referring to the presentation and themes - alternate puzzles also using the gold bug code, puzzles involving coordinates and heavy internet use, anagrams, etc. My ideas have evolved somewhat since I posted last - Outright using any puzzle directly is a bad idea for gameplay reasons as well as copyright reasons. There may be a few shoutouts embedded in the codes, though.

PS. Cakehead, can you send me a ZIP with the images? Thanks!
I can certainly send you a ZIP with the images which have been backed up for theory purposes; all the work I had prior to moving out was deleted. I'll send them over momentarily.

I don't see why you couldn't; bearing in mind Gecko implemented Poe for both thematic and practical reasons for a solve...

Trying to get my bearings together right now on where I was previously with this; proving difficult with a new flatmate moving in. I'll be trying to get some sort of progress later in the week, but I'm pretty doubtful considering I've lost everything I had on when Torment returned last year.

I'm holding on. I've recently had a break from what some might consider a strenuous attempt at working with the scraps left from this; yet, I believe "No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn."

Once every few weeks I remember Torment and reminisce.

Torment is the reason I became interested in cryptography. Years ago, a friend of mine mentioned it to me and I began to try and work my way through the solutions. I'd spend hours, sometimes days, on the same page; I remember sitting up at three in the morning, with no light but the glow of my monitor, no sound but the eerie music chipping away at my sanity. I would have dreams and nightmares with bits of Torment in them. It consumed a part of my mind, and it continues to eat away.

I am afraid of being forever tormented. I know it is likely you will be gone for good, Green Gecko, and that is okay because you have been wronged, but please know this. You've made a huge impact on my life, and your creation will haunt me for what is likely the duration of my life. I don't expect you to bring anything back. I don't expect any answers. I just want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to experience Torment.

    Hi kalbmains,

I have been checking in every couple of weeks also, to no avail, of course. Torment also got me interested in things beyond number; John Milton's works being a primary factor, considering I already had exams on his works. The Doors being another of which I had heard lyrics prior to Torment, thinking what that band was and upon research it widened my horizons on the 60's and early 70's, another of which I was tested on at College. Now, at University in my second year, I miss the hours wasted on Torment. I no longer occupy my time with it, as I know all too well Mr. Gecko is not likely to return.

Been keeping an eye on this for a while now, just wondering if there's any forum mods out there to confirm whether this will stay on the front page in Recommended Hunts while the trail is cold?

I used to dream that I manage to solve it...
I tend to remember all. The impact on my life... Well, I've learn a thing or two about cryptography, myths, Divina Comedia... but biggest impact is the endless Torment of an unanswered question. That's a thing I really really hate...

Not that I feel my name is in good repute here, but I was wondering if anyone is still actively pursuing this/checking the thread. I've found myself coming back to it recently and 'would like to start working again if anyone has any hunches they'd like to follow up on together.

Specifically, I'm interested in the Hebrew text that was posted just before everything went down - my knowledge of the script isn't really enough for me to make sense of it immediately, but I was wondering if anyone else had fared better.
