Specifically, I'm interested in the Hebrew text that was posted just before everything went down - my knowledge of the script isn't really enough for me to make sense of it immediately, but I was wondering if anyone else had fared better.

Do you know if anyone's gotten farther than that though? The niqqud kept throwing me off when trying to transliterate...

Very excited for getting back into this as I've drawn so many interlinking potential hints to how this "Zodiac" cipher of sorts is meant to be solved. Until then, I hope you're still lurking Gecko...I've been waiting.
I'm super interested in any and all of these image files.

Has anyone else thought about trying to host a replica?

    Hi Tanshin,

A replica would be above anything else a laborious process which isn't worth the time as far as I'm concerned, anyway. If Gecko wants to reboot the trail again I'd welcome it with open arms, but I don't think a replica would help when the files are out there. Searching through the numerous threads would yield a result in terms of image files; I recollect a number of images being posted in regards to themostabstruse.com as it began to change. It's a shame my university work is demanding right now otherwise I'd say I'd be willing to help.

I didn't realise until now that according to whois http://grngecko.com is still around, but down. Not that I expect a reboot this late after the trail dying but you can't really say when it comes to these sort of things. I've been lurking around while I've been knuckling down on my work and I'm not surprised from the lack of progress, but if you're wanting to crack on I look forward to what your results yield, if anything.

This is absolutely not about trying to get new results and much more about trying to recreate even a tiny slice of that experience that is now lost to the void. A reproduction of even a few puzzles would make me nostalgia hard, and I could tell certain friends "Okay, this is what I've been trying to tell you about for so long. Try some of these out."

The puzzles need to continue to exist, somewhere. It makes me sad inside to think that it'd all be lost forever.

Hey, I'm still lurking. For all these years I could not get Torment and the blocks out of my head.
I wish Gecko would come back.

    Hi CluEleSs!?,
Every now and then I frequent for the sake of the texts used; Chain of Death, Paradise Lost, Shadow: A Parable among other curiosities proved intriguing and all in all it helped expand my reading into historically important foundations (with the exception of Chain of Death as afore mentioned..) for the arts. It sort of helps the work for my degree too for refreshing my mind on certain theoretical perspectives on contemporary issues. Though I'm sure no one who still reads this is here for that purpose.

It's been far too long since the winter solstice which closed down Torment for it to make a return now I think. If I learned anything from the years spent working on Torment it's to not harbour false hope until there's a significant sign of progress. With this being considered I'd like to take the time to point out that on the 8th just gone it was Morrison's birthday; later this month it is the winter solstice; next month marks Poe's birthday . If anything was to happen in regards to Torment it would happen /soon/ I think. If I was Gecko though I wouldn't bother with it; after all the energy put into Torment and the little respect it received from the wider internet community, I wouldn't blame him then or blame him now.

    Me too.

Yesterday I watched a CSI episode and the quote "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here" was mentioned. I couldn't but smile.
