I almost hate to post this, but here's another site registered back to ANON at deaddrop.cc.

    natural bees

    WHAT IS THIS?
    GG is scaring me. =/

Ueli Hoffman has a Facebook, BTW. xD
    Ueli Hoffmann | Facebook

    Suspiciousness:

    1) Studied at... 'xxxxxxx'?
    2) From Turkey, went to secondary school in a non-German part of Poland, lives in Indiana (judging by his supposed location on bee-keeping forums), has impeccable English (judging by his posts on said bee-keeping forums), yet uses German FB?
    3) 15 friends is low enough to be a 'fake' profile.

I looked through it but couldn't find anything of use. =/

Hmm, looking over these latest posts I'm convinced all of the bee-related posts are genuine and not connected to deaddrop or any of the other puzzles.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason the sites are down to begin with has to do with people digging into GG's personal life. Perhaps it would be best if everyone just backs off for a while and to wait to see if/when grngecko.com and themostabstruse.com come back up.

I'm not sure about that, to be honest. If he didn't want people prying into his private life, he probably wouldn't have made a puzzle with links leading to him, or made it so we'd have to get to a point where chasing the wildest leads we have seems like a good idea.

With relation to the PGP block, I used an 11 letter password to generate my own keys (under the small assumption that a longer password would provide a longer block, probably not though) and it was 58 lines long for the public, and 116 for the private key.

Now, grngecko's "public" key was 125 lines long. Providing that he hasn't deformed the key by adding useless lines, then I think that he's actually given us a private key.

Sorry if this has been concluded before, I didn't see it so I assume it hasn't :P

So, we might be waiting until we find a code block for us to decrypt.

Edit: I should add that the keys are that long because of the spacing that Gpg4win adds to its key files, so I applied the same spacing to grngecko's key too.

    I agree.

As wild a lead as they may be, I'm wondering if the bee websites could be important. I mean, J. Trithemius' famous work is a cipher text that appears to be about something else entirely, so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to think that these might (and I stress might) be doing the same thing. While they could just be dead ends/red herrings, there is something off about the text on the web pages. Just as an example, I can't figure out why someone would so excessively cite the sentence, "Nest cavity volumes frequently ranged between 30 and 60 liters and may reflect available cavity sizes, a preference in nest volume by bees, or an interaction of both".

This is the sort of thing I'd think about encrypting, e-mailing to grngecko and hoping it's some sort of 'password'. The problem with this is that it just seems to be all too arbitrary, he's probably dropping hints, we're just looking at them the wrong way.

You know, perhaps deaddrop going down is GG's way of saying: "The website is irrelevant. I've given you what you need, try working on that."

    What we have so far:

The title of the page on 'themostabstruse.com' was:
    Code:
    xqAC VhYL ejOp MzLc
A comment embedded in the source code was:
    Code:
    --5443-4655-9784-6733-2684-8959-8068-7802-1486-6692-1595-8506-1269-0694-3530-4090-3165-1782-8351-7327-8879-0894-3434-3809-1257--
    The title of 'themostabstruse.com/tormentum/index' was:
    Code:
    tAzC fPDm ZRDi LOIJ
The comment in the source code was:
    Code:
    7 7867-8442-3410-2212
As for, 'themostabstruse.com/tormentum/xit', the title was:
    Code:
    LBzB cuxz Xzaz syiP
Kudos to Element 17 for the above.

We also have this, which was embedded within 'deaddrop.cc':

I agree. Why the sites are popping on/off like this is moot at this point. While we have unsolved cipher text handy, we should devote our focus on THAT, not bees. GG has a definite way of presentation, and necessitating that we track down clues through the obscure bee writings/references of his personal life is not it.

Seconded. Not knowing if you're on the right track is one thing, but not knowing if there IS a track... quite another.
