    Default Noobie and confused

Hey all! I just joined the site and wanted to say hi!

I saw the book alchemist dar at the bookstore. Got so excited that I bought it and raced home with it only to find that it was sort of dead.... However before finding that book I had no idea that things like the existed so I guess it wasn't all for not.

Any way in researching alchemist dar I found your website. I have looked through the recommended hunts section and I guess I'm confused a bit. In each one I couldn't find a sticky or anything explaining where the puzzle is. I.e is it a website or a physical book. Sorry if this is way noobish question. Are they all books arhat I have to buy?

    Thanks!
    Steph

    Hi Swagger,

In most cases the hunts on the Recommended List are books that you buy with the treasure details inside. Some of the New Hunts and Rumors puzzles may be websites offering prizes for solving, or other venue. If you have a specific puzzle that you would like to know about, ask here in this thread, and someone is sure to give you their opinion. I found Tweleve through Alchemist Dar also. I am surprised that it is still for sale! That seems a bit shady to me, but oh well.

I can answer most questions about Dar, having lived through that mess. Currently I am working on COWBOY, a puzzle book made by a fellow twelever. I also look forward to the four yearly puzzle hunts. MUMS (Melbourne University) is hosting a puzzle hunt next week for four to five days. CISRA, SUMS, and LOGICA host puzzle hunts through the upcoming months.

Hope this helps, and welcome to Tweleve!

Looking at the Recommended Hunt list, the only one I know of that is not a book is TORMENT, which is a puzzle trail website. You enter the correct password to advance through the puzzle. Many people have gotten far along in Torment, to be stopped by a puzzle made of toy blocks. It seems to have been solved, but the password is eluding us all.
