# Thread: Puzzle in pieces - Discussion

1. ## Puzzle in pieces - Discussion

I am creating two threads. One only for the puzzles and the other for discussions, hints, updates...
This way all the puzzles are together and you don't have to look for them in the middle of all the posts.

When you solve a puzzle, send me a PM with the answer and if you are correct I will send you a piece of the final puzzle.
If the answer is not correct I will let you know so you can keep trying.

There are two pages that you can check to see the progress of the puzzle:
- to know who has solved each puzzle, check this link
- to see what the scores are, check this other link

2. The things you learn solving puzzles:

53 is a prime number
It is also the number on Herbie, the Love Bug.
George Washington was born on the 53rd day of the year.

3. I couldn't find this right away, so I'm copying it over to this thread, just so everyone is on the same page:

This is how the prizes will be:
- Person with more points: 1000 T
- Second in points: 500 T
- Third in points: 250 T
- 5 T per point for everybody who plays
- extra random Twollars for collaboration, solving the final puzzle first, making me laugh...

- First solver of a puzzle: 3 points
- second solver of a puzzle: 2 points
- everybody else: 1 point
- For the final puzzle it will be 6, 4 and 2

And I don't think I posted this before. In case of a tie, the order in which the final puzzle is solved will be the tiebreaker.

5. Well, this might be the first twelve user puzzle I've ever participated in.

6. i am completely out of ideas on the first puzzle.

(and beginning to feel really stupid)
hmmm...must be the exhaustion

7. It must be the exhaustion corgi, because I know you know how to solve it

I have to say that andersonwang has started their first tweleve user puzzle the right way, second on the leader board right now.

congratulations moscow and andersonwang.

i've shifted thru the entire alphabet, atbashed, atbashed then shifted, vigenered with a whole bunch of key words (if it's a vigenere, there would have been a keyword somewhere, and i must have missed it). i've broken up the lines in various different ways to try reading down and up the columns, i haven't tried play fair because it's an odd number of letters, and because of the lack of noticed key word.

i keep thinking the only thing that makes sense is for it to be some sort of shift or substitution, but i'm just not seeing it yet.

53 letters can be rearranged into a very pretty pattern of:
5 3 5 3 5 3 5 3 5 3 5 3 5 letters per line.

10. I've tried about everything possible with the capital letters, including various combinations of caesar, playfair, atbash, and vignere, but I haven't gotten anything yet, so I'm assuming that the capital letters aren't important to the puzzle. I guess I'm staring at the blocks for so long that my brain is leaking out :P
