Default Publisher Speaks About the $25,000 Dagger

We are very appreciative that Tweleve.org selected one of our books, "Vegas Die, a Quest Mystery" as a recommended hunt. From time to time we will be happy to visit the site and answer questions. We will even ask the Author to respond to any questions we run across in you joining the hunt for the hidden dagger worth $25,000.

We suggest that you visit the QuestMystery.com Forum site if only to see what other Questors have written so as to eliminate various directions.

Again, thank you. And good luck on your Quest.

Default The Hidden Dagger, comments from Author

Addison & Highsmith Publishers asked me to visit this site and leave a few comments about the Quest Mystery found in the mystery 'Vegas Die'.

First, Happy Holidays and Best New Year Wishes

    2. You read Vegas Die first as a mystery then go back and look at it as a treasure hunt. I tried to develop 'seamless' clues that would not take away from the reading.

    3. There are more than one direction towards the prize. What has confused a lot of new Questors is that there are several 'threads' and several red herring dead ends.

    4. Already figured out by previous Questors therefore not a big surprise, but the card symbols can be figured out using Morse Code. The first one still seems the hardes and has not yet been cracked.

    5. A frustration to some is that they dont live near or going to Vegas anytime soon. I have found many Vegas Questors are more than willing to help in your search if you feel you have figured out the Quest. They will go and look for you, but at the same time if you guess and are within 15 feet you win the dagger.

    6. When you find the dagger, the first thing to do is contact the publisher with your guess or proof of the dagger. When verified you can keep the dagger or return it for $25,000 cash.

    7. We have Questor Challenge going on. Originally, at 2,500 books, now down to 400 books. If 400 copies of Vegas Die are sold, then a Major Clue will be released. So please buy another copy, or tell your friends. Books are online at Amazon, Borders, Barnes & Noble.

    8. Though the hunt only lasts 3 years both publisher and myself hope someone finds the dagger as it justifies the concept of future Quest Mysteries.

    9. Okay, I am challenging Twelevers to out-think me. Since this is my first attempt at hiding a treasure, I must have done something wrong, or left an easy deciperable clue. It is up to you to find the Dagger.

Default where are the old timers on this board?

back in the ATT days, the activity here was amazing. Now, the author
of a legit hunt leaves a message and nobody shows any interest? I guess
people have 'moved on' to other endeavors and activities, or $25K just
isn't enough to get people's interest

Maybe the Wall St Ponzi scandal is tempering peoples excitement over these 'treasures'?

I'm still working on this hunt but I have taken a long break for the Holidays.

I recently got a new lead that I am excited about pursuing. I hope 2009 is the year someone finds this dagger. (ME!!)

    Happy New Year Tweleve!!!

that's a bit of a stretch, are you losing faith in anything involving risk? I guess with
the ScrollQuest debacle, people really turned negative. This one seems different, it's
modest and has a lot of local PR behind it. I'm disappointed to hear only 400 books have
been sold (although I seem to recall the figure of 900 somewhere else??), it truly is
hard to get people's attention nowadays - too much multimedia out there competing for an
audience. It would take some major ad $$$ ,which obviously doesn't exist in this case.

On a downer note, I came here to post that the Questor Forum returned an error today,
hopefully it's not a bad omen.

Losing faith? Never had any to begin with (athiest, remember?)

The post above says he will release a clue when the sales reach 400, which means he sold less than that. How much profit do yo think he makes on each copy? And how many books must he sell to break even on the $25K prize? You do the math.

And speaking of the $25K prize. Somebody posted in another thread that the author will give the winner the option of taking $25K in cash instead of a "silver dagger worth $25,000". For a silver dagger to be worth that much it would have to be a famous relic or one big-ass dagger. I always view with skepticism claims of the worth of a physical prize. This one does not even offer a photo of the prize, much less an appraisal.

So, if you believe the author is offering a cash prize and you're not thinking 'Ponzi', well... I guess Grogan won't be the fool soon parted with it.

Maybe you two did not read #7 of the author's post correctly??

Originally, at 2,500 books, now down to 400 books.

Which means 2100 books have been sold with 400 left to go. More books than this have been sold as he started this clue contest about 6 months after the book came out. Also a 2nd printing of the book is now out.

    Mike

p.s. - Rusty when I find the dagger I will let you know how much it is worth!

    Hi—

I got this book for Christmas and find it interesting---I hope to be able to share some of my initial thoughts soon.

MDC777---As Im still going through past posts(on the quest forum)---Has anyone mentioned the possibility of ‘a code of silence’? This phrase is used on page 7 and could be a hint at what may need done.

Perhaps not. I read it quickly, and when I did, I gathered he meant the bar was lowered. If I misread, I stand corrected.
