Default Why are there no questors?

I stop by on occasion and when I saw this hunt I bit again because I live in Las Vegas. The forum here is pretty quiet as is the quest forum. I wondered why the apathy with a hunt worth $25,000.00. I'm going East in a week and will be gone for a week but I thought I'd try and stir up some interest.

    Hi grandmama,

I can't speak for everyone here, but the design of this contest has lead to a pretty solid dead-end for me. It's quite clear that the important puzzles involve the suit code and the napkin code, and after weeks/months of exhausting new ideas on these fronts, it's hard to know what else to do.

It's not the prize value, but the lack of new leads. My favorite kind of contest is one that has several layers of puzzles, and many different puzzle elements to work on. I think that's why the original A Treasure's Trove was such a success...everyone could see the poem clues, and almost every page had something to "work on" when other leads went cold.

This contest only has a couple of apparent puzzle elements, and when you're stuck on those there's not much left to do. I suspect there might be new interest if someone posted a partial breakthrough.

    Default Interest

Thank you Calvin. ATT was fun, I even took a trip to New Orleans to look for a token and met some wonderful people, both there and here at Tweleve. That aside, I am much more a word person and I believe that the answer can also be found in the book itself.
I'm trying to break the napkin code because if the author can be believed that will lead a questor to the dagger.

Anyways - grandmama, we are quite pleased to have you on the Questor Forum... and the handful of us that are still intellectually attacking this quest (rather than just sending in dozens of random guesses daily) are about brain-dead at this point. We really, really do want something to run with... I actually got the chat room up to about 5-7 people regularly for a while (maybe 6 weeks total), where we bounced thoughts and ideas back & forth and chased down "leads" & *clues* - like throwing pasta at the wall hoping something sticks, or hoping someone else sees what you are missing... but we found we are still sitting here at pretty much the same point that we were 6 mos/1 yr ago. I think SG's "non-clue" was really the icing on the cake for some people... and then he posted & stirred up excitement.... to never return. ???

I think that the hunt might be better served over here right now. I don't find Quest Mystery to be a particularly friendly board at this time, although I do understand that you all might be burned out. It is difficult to tell friend from foe and the closest I've come to sharing is to say that I believe the postcard of the Sands is misdirection. Either you all don't get what I'm trying to tell you or you do and all of your conversations are by IM or email.

All I recall is someone posting that they couldn't find the exact picture with the car in front of it..... don't know why they were looking?
We previously tracked the hstory of the Hotel, then connected it to the Hi-Jinx song... the Sahara.... etc.... & then dropped it as another dead-end/red-herring. Is there something I'm missing maybe?

    Question Postcard

Yes Mysty I thiink you are missing something and that is why I am saying the postcard of the Sands is misdirection and not a dead end or a red herring. I might be wrong of course but we're going out to check some spots today.

I agree with Calvin - there just isn't much to go on in this hunt. I thought the book was a good read, but the part 2 and 3 codes turned me off a bit in that they weren't even full words, misspellings, etc.

What is the difference between a misdirection and a red herring? Aren't they kind of the same in that it is throwing you off or heading down a dead end? Help me understand

    Thanks and welcome to Tweleve.

Thanks for your welcome. I've been around since the ATT days but this is not my main hobby. A misdirection invites you to look in a different way. A good example is mirror reading.
I would really like to see this hunt get going again on a moderated board. Tweleve has ben kind to me and I find the hunting fun.
