    Default #10 (possible spoilers within)

Just bumping this over to Tweleve because I like it here.

I am pretty much convinced that the reasoning for this being a Milwaukee site are strong. I will kind of reiterate what is found here thus far.

    Mill(stone) + Walk(ing stick) + Key
Back ground image of City hall from an angle
Shape of shoreline from Lake Michigan reflected in cloak.

The elements that are (literally) up in the air:

    The balls
    The palm image
    The Concorde shaped-whale thingy
    The Verse itself
The face in the left margin

I think the face may be an image from the statue referred to in the text.

In Milwaukee there are many beautiful statues of obscure and interesting folks. Amongst these are:

Wolfgang Goethe, Schiller (together in one statue) - anyone who has tried to read Goethe's Faust will attest to it being Hard words, but the fact of the word Hard being capped makes it seem like something more.

Solomon Juneau - mayor and well-known Milwaukeeite.

Robert Burns - poet. Perhaps the most intriguing of the lot. His words can be hard as well.

There is also a General from the Revolutionary war on horseback.

Gandhi, Hitchcock and Al McGuire statues are also well-known but they don't count because they are recent - too bad for McGuire because hardwood would be a nice pun.

Gertie the Duck is a cool statue. Not a he though.

B Isle is not a good match for me. Can't find anything. There is a sewage island out there and I thought perhaps B+isle = bile... but that may be a stretch too.

Just thoughts to start some discussion...

(THANKS FOX! If I find it, it is yours...)

    Feathers,

Thanks for moving this over to 12. You have posted some great ideas and I think the Milwaukee casque will be the next one ('cept for maybe Houston) to be found.

Not sure that Houston is the right town, If we think of the ball tower Reunion tower is in Dallas... Knoxville would be a better fit and the towns in the list have a railroad connection. Chicago, Milwakee, Cleveland San Fransisco. I am New to this but I would not be surprised if likely cities are Baltimore, Wilmington, Boston and Montreal ( the Canadian answer).
