    Default End of an Era

So ATT is ending in a week.

What conjectures does the community have to say about its end?

Here are my comments. I'm in the minority conspiracy sect:

The hunt was not fully solved.

There possibly remain one or two tokens for original style treasures based on the internet clues.

Mike Stadther will regain respect lost from the currnet turmoil when it is discovered that the mystery of ATT1 was bigger than supposed.

The "mistakes" in the solutions of -5 Caesar cipher and the other "loose strings" of the puzzle will reveal that there was an Uberprize.

Friends made will be maintained. I certainly made a bunch.

    Best regards,
    John Ragland aka jrrag

Absolutely agree there was more to solve...an Ana or Zac token or both....

I wonder if he will wait until resolution and then offer a significant prize for solution of the unsolved internet clues and sort of resurrect that part of ATT....work on them was comparatively sparse due to no definite reward and the fact that it was far more complex than the others. Also, since the onset of the legal troubles, it has become clear that even solving it would give only intellectual satisfaction. Nothing wrong with that, but many of us don't want to invest the time when there is no hope of some return...too many competing demands in life...

    bruinmd,

I also absolutely agree there was/is more to solve in ATT. I believe there are about 9 major tokens, including Zac znd Ana, probably five Rusful "shards", and very likely another set of anmial jewels, possibly all 12 together, which I guess would qualify as an uberprize.

Default Open communique to MS about ATT

    jrrag, bruinmd, virleo, and others,

Earlier this week, I sent a PM to several peers who I thought could contact MS directly. I asked that they forward a message to him. Whether they did or not, I don't know; but, here's an excerpt from that message.

Once I understand MS' final intent regarding ATT, I'll decide how much I openly communicate on this forum.

    Regards,

    CaliforniaRed

    ------------- Message ----------------
    to MS,

Ignoring the legal proceedings overshadowing both treasure hunts, my interest lies with ATT's end-of-year conclusion and solutions disclosure. I fully expect ATT will expire December 31st as stated in the Official Rules. I also assert at minimum we solved half of the enciphered puzzles. It's a contentious, minority viewpoint and undoubtedly will elicit a response from some Tweleve forum members. Their requests for proof will go unanswered for now as it's not the point of this piece.

I unraveled your mazy directions within ATT and its Official Solution Book, reconstructed the data, and identified most of the confusion and diffusion techniques - I know why Ladybug flew alone; I understand Tweleve; I can explain how and where you hid the next set of puzzles; and, as you know, that's the tip of the iceberg. It's been an interesting and daunting 18-month challenge. Right now, I'm deciphering two of five plaintext
elements for one of the next puzzles. If I could solve the first three components and not the last two, this post might have a different subject line.

Whether I'm successful or not, my request is straightforward - please remove any and all financial considerations from ATT on January 1st and don't immediately publish a comprehensive solutions book. Give the unclaimed rewards to charity. Remove the tokens. Eliminate any need to travel. Forego book sales revenue temporarily. What you accomplished within ATT is extraordinary and it deserves a better ending; a tell-all book would be an utter disservice.

Simply stated, I'm asking for an unencumbered, wide-open collaborative opportunity. Let ATT progress on its own intellectual merit next year, unshackled from financial incentives. I expect we would surprise you and decipher all of ATT within 6 months. I truly believe the ATT dominoes would fall that quickly.

    Regards,

    CaliforniaRed

    California Red,

I was going to suggest the same thing. End the financial aspect of the hunt, but let us finish it. Maybe throw us some more bones to get us going again. I hope your message gets through.

I doubt that ATT will end at the end of this year. The scope of it and the investment in it, far more than for just the prizes, are too great. I think the end of the year will be the end only for announced tokens, and all of those have been found. Read the rules. The word "through" is used; that's ambiguous. I suspect there will be no announcement, one way or the other, until someone actually finds an unannounced token or other prize.

I certainly would not be surprised to find a prize containing all 12 creatures together. I've been speculating for a while that it may even have something to do with the original 12 tokens. Each of them had to be returned to Mike to gain the jeweled creature. Perhaps the tweleve tokens are together now in a box like Zac made for Ana. That would make an awesome prize.

The story was, after all, about two sets of creatures in different states of being until the end when all was restored. It is also very odd that in Sotad we only have mention of 12 creatures without their reunited spouses. It makes me wonder if there are some clues in Sotad which will help in the search for the twelve missing ATT creature prizes.

It doesn't seem like many people who are working on Sotad believe in the the additional tokens from ATT. On the other hand, most of the people who are still working on ATT have not fully embraced the Sotad hunt yet.

I'm still struck with the "Well begun is haff done" morse right on the title page. I think it means if the 2 books were viewed as one big hunt, then we were not quite at the halfway point when we started Sotad. To me it meant there was more to be found in ATT.

Mike may have also included more help for us which I have been unable to recognize since I was not involved in hunting for the original tokens. I have been going to great lengths to learn about the original hunt and solves. Perhaps one day I will have a breakthrough to contribute. In the meantime I wish you all good fortune in uncovering Mike's mysteries.

    Default Clue request

    Anneiam,
A well thought out and written post. In the spirit of Christmas we need the author to emit a decree, a fiat of sort. A simple solvable clue in a little box wrapped in shiny reflective foil tied with colored string, and perhaps a bow on top. He could well afford to do this. He audi know by now that we are stumped. When the truth is known, there will be a lot of hand wringing and finger pointing with trovers saying i saw this and i saw that. We are all going in circles out here and my over arching concern is to solve this puzzle. We need assistance, do not dodge the fact that we have hit the brick wall. We are all like family out here and have all been good, within reason. Therefore i am making a call for a clue we could all grasp. As for Sotad, some of us diehards are like bloodhounds with our nose to the ground and just to stubborn to give up on Att. Merry Christmas to u Anneiam and keep posting, you have seen what i have seen.

    Default Xmas present

Call it a Christmas gift if he wants...but we are all so ready for
Mr. Stadther to "give" us the solutions to the remaining 2 ATT webclues...
#'s 3 & 4. If there are indeed unfound tokens connected to these clues...
it really will not matter...as the end of 2007 brings an end to ATT.

It has been 3 years of searching...via book, computer and travel.
It has been 3 years of brain work, thinking and dreaming of puzzles.
It has been 3 years of making acquaintances on line and off.

I, for one, would like this whole experience to end with satisfaction and a

Please, "Santa Stadther"...we have been "good" for so long...
