Thread: Let's solve phone/email together

He has three three Staffordshire bull terriers, Misty, Coco , and Cinnamon, according to http://www.atreasurestroveaudiobook....cmd=process009.

I believe that at least one valid phone number begins with 1-888. I have tried to get the last seven digits a number of ways, and two or three times I got voicemail services that required both a username and a password at the same time. I was not able to come up with any that worked, and I have no idea if any of the numbers are actually for ATT.

I suspect that the ATT hunt for unannounced tokens will continue without any notice one way or the other. The shutting down of the websites has come at precisely the time when people might panic at the approaching deadline and reveal all kinds of clues they had kept secret. The legal troubles with S&S might or might not have been planned as part of the hunt. I have no evidence that they were planned, but, as I've said before, I don't put much past TT.

Of course, there is nothing to stop us from giving out ATT info here on tweleve, but many trovers do not seem to have come over here, partly because it seems to be much harder to keep up with posts here. As far as I know, there is nothing equivalent to TT's recent messages and recent topics forums for a given hunt, nor can we subscribe to threads. If I'm mistaken about this, please enlighten me.

Yes, I agree the phone number starts with 888. That fits with the elf's name of 'Tut'.

Thank you for the dog names. I'll try them out. Cinnamon is too long but I'll try it anyway. Have you seen any references to an age? Either V or VI or III?

By the way, what legal troubles? Who is S&S?

I've run into all kinds of numbers, of course, but 5 or V seems to stand out in ATT, although not as much as in Dar. No idea if it means an age. Hm, dogs need county tags, their age is disclosed on the yearly application form (in WV, at least), these are public records, should be available through the county tax office, maybe one of our resident trover legal beagles here knows how to get such info easily, or maybe it's not hard. I don't know what county Mike lives in, but that info should be availabe somewhere; maybe some other trover knows and will repsond to this.

S&S = Simon and Schuster. Legal dispute over unsold copies of Dar. TT is in the hands of a bankruptcy trustee, Mike has no control over the company, TT websites were shut down last month except for a beta version of Dar on which we could post for a while. That website is still up, but we can't post any more. You can check this out on that website, http://www.alchemistdar.com/fusetalk2/forum/index.cfm, and on some threads here on tweleve.

Are these bona fide legal troubles or puzzlers' tricks? Who knows?

Here's the relevant details of what I have.

I believe its likely that the dream chant is key to solving the email/phone. To that end, I have found an anagram in the book and in Clue #3 which tell me to use a Vigenere cipher on the dream using Adventurer as the key. When I perform the cipher and alphabetize it for ease of use I get:
'ABCDEEEFGHIIIIIJJKLLMMMMNNOPPQQQRRRRSTUVVVVVWXXXX YYZ'
Interestingly enough it uses every letter in the alphabet. Here are some of the anagrams I can come up with:
'FIRM NUMBER IN TOP LEAVES, GIRL' - I assume they are referring to page 86.
'PROMINENT MASH FIGURE PRIZED BY PIXY' - are they referring to Radar for the dog?
'URL IN LIMERICK ON PAGE SIXTY-FIVE' - more on that later.
'REMINDER URL IS EARTHLINK COM FIB' - obviously its not earthlink.com.
'FIND IRIS EMAIL BELOW NYMPH PICTURE' - there several of these.
'REF IRIS IN TREE BACKGROUND' - again page 86.
'RECEIVING FIRM URL IS AOL.NET HYBRID' - does this mean its aol.com or aol.org or what?
'UNZIP LEAVES GIRL BY MIRROR MYTH' - don't need a mirror.
'ROMAN NUMBER IS TWELVE GIMMICK' - okay so its not twelve.

Age: Certainly appears to be V but I'm not convinced.
Still don't know if its AOL or Yahoo or Earthlink or .com or .net or .org or what. Too many decoys to nail it so far.

Q is a very big key in this book. As we know there are no Q's used in the story. If you look closely at the dandelion throughout the book you will see it is actually a Q. I have found elsewhere and confirmed that the Logo for the book is the Dandelion or Q.

Unfortunately none of the above combinations I have tried have worked. Does anybody have anything else? If we continue to work on the dream cipher and the leaves and girl at the top of page 86 and the poem line 'reveals the name...' perhaps we'll nail this down.

there are several old dial up isp and satitlite isp that use old aol.
